➤ Something typical of Dark Souls are those areas so detestable that you would never in your life want to go back there, places that bring out the worst in you, make you die hundreds of times, stress you out, suffer and even want to delete the game, it happened to me in Dark Souls 1 when I got to the infested city, which was for me the most disgusting area of the whole game, I had never hated a place so much. And now to make me suffer, came the Dark Cathedral in Dark Souls 3. My adventure would not be so easy after this.

➤ To get to this area you first have to go through other places, but unfortunately I didn't take a picture of any of them because in those moments I was about to ragequit and I just wanted to move forward without further ado. The good thing is that I faced an ice guardian and he ended up giving me a sword that I love, because it does a lot of damage and aesthetically it's very nice because it has an ice effect and it looks super cool. It's a pretty light sword so I can attack pretty fast, although I'm not a fan of that because slow and powerful weapons in Dark Souls have always been more to my liking, although there are times where it's impossible to use them. There are times where strength rewards, and other times where speed rewards. In order to reach the dark cathedral you must first enter from the outside, this place is something like a small fortress and it's a hassle to find the entrance, but the good thing is that we will find quite striking landscapes on the way, especially a burst of colors that I love, which are those orange sunsets.

➤ Upon entering the cathedral the first thing I see is a giant that slaps me when I try to go down the road killing me with a blow or throwing me to nothing, but luckily I managed to exploit all my mind and use the maximum of my intelligence, throwing me down with him to try to kill him by attacking his feet. It was a hard battle but not because it was difficult, but because it took me a long time to kill him, he had a lot of life and I was doing very little damage. Besides the ground was full of a kind of mud that made me move too slow and sometimes it was difficult to dodge, I had to roll like crazy and run out of stamina to be able to attack. By the way, the giant's hitboxes are a bit strange, his stomps hurt me from 3 meters away. But in the end my powerful ice sword was able to kill him, something I really like about this sword is that it does critical damage effects by freezing.

➤ I hated this area so much that I didn't even get to take pictures of it either, I was completely lost, I didn't know what the hell to do. By the way I ended up getting tricked, I had found an NPC who happened to be an onion head, I thought he was a friend and I talked to him and he told me there was a treasure ahead, I walked and the bastard got me into a trap and it turns out that really that guy was Patches, a legendary character that has transcended in all the games of the saga. The bastard got me into the worst trap in the world, I was supposed to be attacked by giants but I had already killed them before so it was like.... empty. Here happened the worst moment of my life, I got lost for about 50 minutes going around in circles trying to find where the hell to go. I was really tired, I was just going around in circles all over the place and activating levers without sense, I had found the boss of the area but after that I didn't know where to go or what to do either, it was simply a doom. I was totally forced to look for a guide on the internet, I hate when this happens, but Dark Souls always looks for a way to get you completely lost.

➤ Would you believe me if I told you that to get to Patches we will first have to get out of the place, climb through a secret part of the ceiling, walk through beams of course also hidden that are full of monsters that if they hit you they throw you into nothingness and you die, and on top of that you have to do parkour? Yeah, I don't believe it either but that's how it is. I don't know how the hell the game intended for me to guess this. And you know the worst thing about it? This is all SECONDARY, it has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MAIN PATH. All of this is simply to get to Patches, talk to him, have him tell us the same old thing over and over again, that he didn't mean to joke and do that to us, and then offer to sell us stuff. Of course I wasn't going to stand for that and ended up confronting him and killing him, he ended up giving me the entire full set of onionhead armor, armor that is absurdly heavy. Also at the end there is a hidden NPC that allows us to enter his pact, which again I have no idea what it's for, I never found a good use for pacts.

➤ I finally got to face the bosses of this area after seeing 5 guides on the internet and knowing that I just had to kill them and then leave and not do everything I did. I figured it out after being there for 1 hour suffering going around in circles. The boss in this area is exceedingly easy, but can be confusing in our first battle. It's a huge army of hundreds of religious skeletons, we don't have to kill them all, but the trick is to kill a specific one which will have a fire aura, once we kill it, that fire essence will be randomly distributed to another enemy, so we will have to go chasing and killing all the ones with the fire aura while the others try to annoy us and kill us. After we lower enough life the aura will remain fixed on one of them and here comes the difficult part, because it will be surrounded by all the others and they will protect it too well, we will have to be very careful because if they catch us, they will all attack us at the same time and we will die. But as far as it goes, it is a super easy battle and without any complicity, we should not be afraid of anything, in fact we could even go with bombs and clear everything easily.

➤ No doubt this was a formidable adventure that ended my little mental stability, although the infested city is worse than this place, it brought me very bad moments and memories. Thank you very much for reading, see you in the next post!

➤ Algo típico de Dark Souls son esas zonas tan detestables que jamás en tu vida quisieras volver allí, lugares que sacan lo peor de ti, te hacen morir cientos de veces, estresarte, sufrir y querer hasta borrar el juego, me pasó en el Dark Souls 1 cuando llegué a la ciudad infestada, que fue para mí la zona más asquerosa de todo el juego, nunca había odiado tanto un lugar. Y ahora para hacerme sufrir, llegó la Catedral Oscura en Dark Souls 3. Mi aventura no sería tan fácil después de esto.

➤ Para llegar a esta zona primero hay que pasar por otros lugares, pero lastimosamente no tomé foto de ninguno porque en esos momentos estaba a punto de hacer un ragequit y solo quería avanzar sin más. Lo bueno es que me enfrenté a un guardían de hielo y me terminó dando una espada que me encanta, porque hace mucho daño y estéticamente es muy bonita porque tiene un efecto de hielo y se ve súper bien. Es una espada bastante ligera así que puedo atacar muy rápido, aunque no soy fanático de eso porque las armas lentas y poderosas en Dark Souls siempre me han gustado más, aunque hay momentos donde es imposible usarlas. Hay veces donde la fuerza premia, y otras donde la rápidez premia. Para poder llegar a la catedral oscuridad hay que primero entrar desde afuera, este lugar es algo así como una pequeña fortaleza y es un fastidio lograr encontrar la entrada, pero lo bueno es que encontraremos paisajes bastante llamativos en el camino, sobre todo una rafaga de colores que me encanta, que son aquellos atardeceres naranja.

➤ Al entrar a la catedral lo primero que veo es un gigante que me abofotea cuando intento ir por el camino matándome de un golpe o tirándome hacia la nada, pero por suerte logré explotar toda mi mente y usar el máximo de mi inteligencia, tirándome hacia abajo con él para intentar matarlo atacando sus pies. Fue una dura batalla pero no por lo difícil, si no que me tomo mucho tiempo poder matarlo, tenía mucha vida y yo le hacía muy poco daño. Aparte que el suelo estaba lleno de una especie de barro que me hacía moverme excesivamente lento y a veces se complicaba esquivar, tenía que rodar como loco y quedarme sin estamina para poder atacar. De paso las hitbox del gigante son algo extrañas, sus pisotones me hacían daño a 3 metros de distancia. Pero al final mi poderorisima espada de hielo pudo matarlo, algo que me gusta mucho de esta espada es que hace efectos de daño crítico por congelación.

➤ Odié tanto esta zona que ni siquiera llegué a tomarle fotos tampoco, andaba completamente perdido, no sabía qué demonios hacer. De paso terminé engañado, había encontrado a un NPC que casualmente era un cabeza de cebolla, pensé que era un amigo y hablé con él y me dijo que había un tesoro adelante, caminé y el desgraciado me metió en una trampa y resulta que realmente ese tipo era Parches, un personaje legendario que ha trascendido en todos los juegos de la saga. El desgraciado me metió en la peor trampa del mundo, se supone que me tenían que atacar los gigantes pero ya los había matado antes entonces fue como que... vacío. Aquí ocurrió el peor momento de mi vida, me perdí como 50 minutos dando vueltas en círculo intentando encontrar hacia dónde demonios ir. Es que en serio estaba cansado, solo daba vueltas en circulos por todo el lugar y activaba palancas sin sentido, había encontrado al jefe de la zona pero es que luego de eso no sabía hacía donde ir o qué hacer tampoco, simplemente fue una perdición. Me vi totalmente obligado a tener que buscar una guía en internet, odio cuando pasa esto, pero Dark Souls siempre busca la forma de perderte por completo.

➤ ¿Me creerían si les dijera que para llegar a Parches primero tendremos que salir del lugar, subirnos por una parte secreta del techo, caminar por vigas por supuesto también ocultas que están llenas de monstruos que si te golpean te tiran hacia la nada y mueres, y encima a eso tienes que hacer parkour? Sí, yo tampoco lo creo pero es así. No sé cómo demonios el juego pretendía que yo adivinara esto. ¿Y saben lo peor del caso? Todo esto es SECUNDARIO, NO TIENE NADA QUE VER CON EL CAMINO PRINCIPAL. Todo esto es simplemente para llegar a Parches, hablar con él, que nos diga lo mismo de siempre una y otra vez, que no fue su intención bromear y hacernos eso, y luego ofrecernos vender cosas. Por supuesto yo no iba a tolerar eso y terminé enfrentándome a él y matándolo, me terminó dando todo el set de armadura completo de los cabeza de cebolla, armadura que es absurdamente pesada. También al final se encuentra un NPC oculto que nos permite entrar a su pacto, que nuevamente no tengo ni la menor idea de para qué sirve, nunca le encontré una buena utilidad a los pactos.

➤ Al final llegó enfrentarme a los jefes de esta zona luego de ver 5 guías en internet y saber que solo tenía que matarlos y luego irme y no hacer todo lo que hice. Lo averigué luego de estar 1 hora ahí sufriendo dando vueltas en circulos. El jefe de esta zona es excesivamente fácil, pero puede ser confuso en nuestra primera batalla. Se trata de un ejército enorme de cientos de esqueletos religiosos, no tenemos que matarlos a todos, si no que el truco es matar a uno en específico el cual tendrá un aura de fuego, una vez que lo matemos, esa esencia de fuego se repartirá aleatoriamente hacia otro enemigo, así que tendremos que ir persiguiendo y matando a todos los del aura de fuego mientras los demás intentan fastidiarnos y matarnos. Luego de que le bajemos la suficiente vida el aura se quedará fija en uno de ellos y aquí entra lo difícil, porque se va a rodear de todos los demás y lo protegeran demasiado bien, tendremos que ir con demasiado cuidado porque como nos lleguen a agarrar, nos atacan todos al mismo tiempo y morimos. Pero dentro de lo que cabe, es una batalla súper fácil y sin nada de complicidad, no hay que tener miedo de nada, de hecho hasta podríamos ir con bombas y despejar todo fácilmente.

➤ Sin duda esta fue una aventura formidable que acabó con mi poca estabilidad mental, aunque la ciudad infestada es peor que este lugar, me trajo muy malos momentos y recuerdos. Muchas gracias por haber leído, ¡nos vemos en el próximo post!
