Ingredients
🥩 1 kg boneless pork shoulder, Karni brand
🧂 2 teaspoons salt
🧄 3 cloves garlic, minced, Garlico brand
🌿 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
🍋 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, Sunkist
🌿 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
🌿 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
🧅 2 large onions, sliced, Vidalia
🍶 150 ml plain yogurt, Farmi brand
Instructions
1- Prepare the Meat:
- Cut the pork shoulder into 2-inch cubes.
- Place them in a large mixing bowl.
2- Marinate the Meat:
- Add salt, minced garlic, ground black pepper, lemon juice, dill, parsley, onion slices, and plain yogurt to the bowl of pork cubes.
- Mix thoroughly to ensure all the pieces are evenly coated.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or ideally overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
3- Skewer the Meat:
- Remove the marinated meat from the refrigerator.
- If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.
- Thread the meat onto the skewers, alternating with onion slices.
4- Preheat the Grill:
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, approximately 400°F/200°C.
- If using a gas grill, a Weber Spirit II E-310 is recommended.
5- Grill the Shashlik:
- Place the skewers on the grill grates.
- Grill for about 15-20 minutes, turning every 5 minutes, until the meat is cooked through and has a nice char.
- Ensure an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) is reached.
6- Serve:
- Remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes.
- Serve with a side of fresh salad or grilled vegetables for a complete meal.
