8 days out!

I realized that tapering is something you need to become good at so you can just relax while your body is preparing for race day. Last week was quite difficult emotionally as I didn’t draw the connection between:
- less training (taper & being sick) => Less Endorphines (especially if you do lots of speed work)
- cold turkey cleaning nutrition (for example no caffeine until race day with normal intake 8 - 10 coffee)
- existing vulnerability due to ongoing medical treatment.
This resulted in dark thoughts and reliving old trauma. While this week these thoughts were also there, they were less of an issue because I was finally aware that the big sudden change in both endorphines aswell as supressors & stimulents had this effect - which tackled the biggest issue you face when feeling down (you know now that it will pass). So, I am finally doing good again!
Physically, getting better by the day, still a little coughing but nothing that will hold me down! Will expect to be fully ready next week!

My run today was focussed on increasing blood circulation, good running form and testing the carbo loader (Amacx).
While the weather this morning was very cold, this afternoon there was a bright sun that made it very pleasant to run!

Next 8 days I will continue my daily taper combination consisting of a short run and a 30 min NSDR (no sleep deep rest). Next to that my nutrition loading plan starts on Tuesday (starting with Nitrate and adding carbs from friday!)
Almost there!
Happy running
