bringing you another #fiveforfriday ...this week, its a theme of COUNTRY RAP MUSIC. this theme goes back way before kid rock and bubba sparxx were destined for the dollar bin. on with the show:

disco four
"country rock and rap"
1982

Here's an early country - themed rap song. im not sure that it is too country, or if the world was ready for hip hop based country music yet, but i think they had an interesting idea going. not to be confused with "the disco 3" who went on to become "the fat boys"

sir mix a lot
"square dance rap"
1985

everyone knows sir mix a lot from "baby got back," but i definitely prefer his early work. this record has this amazing cover with mix a lot channeling the emperor from star wars, shooting lightning out of his hands while in a limo. he comes in with the pitch-bent up vocals and is rapping about square dancing. definitely ridiculous but still funky. ridiculous fan made video of pretty tame square dancers.

shawn brown
rappin duke
1984

here's an old school rap song done in the style of John Wayne, rapping about the ponderosa and everything....it was a big enough hit that after this he was just known as rappin duke

country mike(beastie boys)
"Country Delight"
1999

the only rap song on the beastie boys kind of technically-unreleased fake country album...and its a parody of rappers delight, but about country living. there's even a Christmas song on this record. yeah, you heard me right. i guess the "concept" is that mike d hit his head and got amnesia and thought he was in a country band. probably not their best work, but at least they tried doing country again-since they nailed it with "5 piece chicken dinner" on Pauls Boutique

jonzun crew
"space cowboy"
1983

this is really just a killer electro song about being a cowboy....a space cowboy, that is. might as well capitalize on star wars...or something. my personal favorite era for hip hop and electro is 1982 to 1985 and this album is amazing all the way through. unfortunately, any jonzun i heard after this is pretty snoozzzzy. amazingly 80s official video as a bonus.

THANKS FOR CHECKING OUT MY LIST, I HOPE YOU LEARNED SOMETHING AND HAVE A NICE WEEKEND🎵🎶♩🎚📻📻💿💿
