The sea was alive with action.

Ooops, he was hanging onto his board for dear life.

We were at the beach, as a high wind was up and I knew what to expect.

I always find it so exciting to see how high the kite surfers can jump up into the air, when they hit a big wave. Not only that, but a whole tribe of kite surfers was out there on the ocean. It is the Atlantic Ocean, known for its ice-cold waters, but everyone is wearing bodysuits to protect them from the cold.
Not only kite surfers but also sail surfers, that I will show you later in the post.

As usual, in the strong winds, the sea sand pebbles were trying to exfoliate our faces, but by now we are used to the stinging feeling. Amazingly, people were strolling around on the boardwalk in shorts and t-shirts, and they also seemed to be used to the stinging sand that the wind blows up from the beaches.

This guy, below, seemed to get it right, as his board was secure

Now I will show you some of the kites below.

I don't know what these are called, but they also had much fun on the day.

The sail was shaped like a butterfly, as he also jumped over a wave.

And that guy was also jumping around.

Maybe they can call this tandem jumping.

Finally, here's a look down across the beach with plenty kites in the air.

We have a big surfing club here, and the beach is very popular with kite surfers, sail surfers, and even kayaks. Visitors come from all over to enjoy this beach, and in the summer holidays that beach is packed with sunbathers almost the same as a tin of sardines. We don't visit the beach often during the holidays, as a person can find no parking for the car and I can't walk for 2 or 3 kilometers to get to the beach anymore.

The good thing is that there are also lifeguards here and the beaches are kept clean. But crowds are not our thing, as we rather drive up to the rocky parts of the sea where swimming is banned. Although it is not banned for the birds, and the fish also prefer to breed in the rocky parts. I have taken many photos in the past for my blog of some rare birds and other lovely sites that we see in the rock pools.
Such is life.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.
