Blessing's triumph

Blessing sat on the chair outside their school premises, biting her nails.
Her eyes were fixed on the notice board where the results would be posted.
She had written her final waec exam last two months and today is the big day when the results will be out.

She was scared and her heart was biting so fast.

"What if I did not pass"
"What if I fail English" she whispered to herself.

Her friend Kate walked over and sat beside her

"You are shaking, are you okay?" she said to her as she touched her back .

"I'm scared" Blessing said to Kate

"Scared of what" asked Kate

"What if I fail, what if I did not pass my English,I know I tried my best but what if my best wasn't good enough?" Blessing answered.

"My friend you don't have to worry, don't sweat it okay?" Kate said to her

She looked at her and asked "what do you mean"?

Kate smiled and say " I mean don't worry, God knows you tried your best, you burned midnight candle's just to pass this exam".
"You don't have to overthink yourself, just take a chill pill, okay " Kate said to her

"Girl, this is the third times I am writing this exam and you know what this result means to me, you remembered when my father says my result will determine whether I will continue with my education in the city or not" Blessing said.

Kate said to her " like I said before, you don't have worry, just breathe and calm down, everything will be okay"
"Remember when you always pray three times a day, just to pass this exam " she joked.

Blessing let out a weak smile and say" I just don't want to disappoint my parents this time around, they have spend so much money on the this"

"I know but you see, it's not all about one moment, even if it doesn't go well, you can still rise again, that's why I am telling you not to worry"

Then Kate point at one tree and said to blessing " you see that tree over there, it have been there for years, it has gone through storms, rain, harmattan and even sun but it still stands strong, you are like that tree blessing, you are strong and intelligent, even if you fail which you won't, you can still stand again"

Blessing took a deep breath and said "but it is not easy to don't worry "

Just then a girl tan to them and said happily " the results has been released" and she ran to other people telling them also.

Blessing stood up slowly and Kate asked her "are you ready?"

She whispered no but she moved to the notice board with Kate.

When they got there, blessing was looking at the results and her eyes sighted her name Blessing igwe

She checked it and saw

She jumped up and hugged her friend and said shouting "l made it, I passed ...yes"

Kate said to her " you see why I said don't worry, I believed in you, I know you will make it, I am so happy for you"

She smiled, her eyes watery " thank you Kate for encouraging me, you are the reason I did not run away from school today, thank you so much".

"Okay, stop it, what are friends for, if I did not do it for you, who will I do it for?"
" Now let's go get food from madam chioma shop, you deserve to eat like a queen" Kate said to her

As they walked away from the board, Blessing kept smiling, she have learned not to worry too much, even when life becomes scary, you can say to yourself don't worry... everything is going to be fine

When they had finished eating, Blessing ran home happily and tell her parent about the result and they didn't believe it at first until Kate spoke up and they was very happy.

Later in the day, they cooked and bought drinks to celebrate their daughter success, they invited they neighbors to come celebrate with them and they did, they all drank and ate to their stratification and they all went home very happy.
