Splinterlands - The Battle for the Leaderboard and Season Overview
1 comment

Hello everyone, I hope you're enjoying your weekend!
Another Splinterlands season is about the end with a little over four hours left, most of the times the season ends on work days so I can't manage my leaderboard position and what usually happens is I'm getting knocked out of the Top 25 in the final hours.
The Top 25 in the Gold Leaderboard receive a 50.000 Glint reward, which is a substantial amount since my total earnings for this season playing daily are just over 150.000 Glint.
So far I was at position 21 this morning, but my friend @estebam managed to get some extra wins in and now he pushed me down 1 spot to 22.
Nothing else happened in the last four hours which seems odd but maybe that's because it's in the middle of the night in the U.S. so I just need to keep an eye on this.

When a player is just outside the top 25, let's say in the 26 to 40 range... they don't have a lot to lose by trying to get a couple of extra wins in to get IN the top 25, when they lose they will still get the 25.000 Glint reward as long as they are in the top 50.
Usually I try to deplete all my battle energy before the end of season because when the big boys fall down to low gold, the other players get trampled by the higher level decks so playing in the first two days is a waste of time, this time however because I was able to get a higher rating than usual I decided to halt playing to keep this rating and see what happens, of course this takes away the possible earnings in SPS and Glint plus a couple of lucky draw entries, there are so many choices to be made as a Splinterlands player!
So, with some extra time on my hands let's try to make another season overview since it's easy to keep track of my performance and earnings, but it's been a while since I made one due to a lack of time.

Manual Silver level account
So I play @nozem manually in Modern League, I just checked and it's been two months since
.I got to 2600 rating points and last minute I was pushed out of the top 25.
Back then I had a 51% win rate and this season I'm at 50.46% so that's pretty consistent!
For some reason the earnings are much higher, this is partly because I have now reached my goal of 50k staked SPS for this account but the last time I was at 'only' 42k.
In those 8 weeks I got 8231 more SPS but this wasn't only earned, with the low price of SPS lately I decided to buy some as well.

Everything above 50k I delegate to my account played by XBot in Wild league.

XBot account
This account @nozem01 is played by XBot and is doing pretty well, currently it's on the Diamond Leaderboard at position 39, when it doesn't drop out of the top 50 it will receive a nice 100k Glint reward.
Hunting for Leaderboard positions will be much less here I think since all top accounts are being played by bots, pretty sad really since the older cards are a lot of fun to play with as well, so one day I hope there will be a human only Wild Mode as well!

The win rate went up from 47.47% on my last report to 49.32% this time, earned Glint this season is just over 200.000 in total, so the 100.000 reward will be great but let's only celebrate when the season has ended. π
My SPS bag went from 116,852 to 128,135 - an increase of 11,283 over 8 weeks so this is pretty substantial. Again this is not only earned by playing, in this time I bought 7,165 SPS for this account.
This still means I earned well over 4000 SPS in the last 8 weeks!

Changing SPS Rental market

With SPS Rental price going up, many whales not renting at 0.001 DEC/SPS anymore but wanting to raise the floor to 0.002, doubling the rental costs for players it's getting more and more important to own SPS, I don't think it will remain this cheap forever.
With bids staying open and unfilled for multiple days I decided to stop my Gold level bot account @ne9en played by Archmage since it doesn't own a substantial amount of SPS on it's own. Combining the 2000 DEC Wild Pass and the cost of renting at 0.002 or risking my bids don't get filled and I miss out on rewards while I did pay for the Wild Pass isn't worth what this account is earning. In the past seasons it earned the 'need to have' Conclave Arcana reward cards, most commons are at level four while most rares are at level 2. Not great but it's competitive enough to perform in my Brawl battles, earning some SPS this way as well as help my guild fill a Wild Fray.
With the 2000 DEC I save for not buying the Wild Pass, I'm buying SPS every new start of the season.

Conclusion
It's a game in the game to manage our accounts, especially when you're around for a couple of years and you have more than one account, deciding the paths we take thinking about the right strategy.
With the awesome new developments of the team it's always entertaining to play at every level, whether you're a free to play player or someone with multiple spell books, there's always a mode to entertain you!
Good luck chasing the Leaderboard prizes and maybe we will meet on one of the battlefields of Praetoria.
VONAK!
