Good evening, hive friends, how are you? Here I am with the final installment of my trip a few weekends ago to the large Acquerino nature reserve (you'll find my previous posts on this reserve at the bottom of the post). This is a magical, unspoiled place, made up of hectares of forests, rivers, flora, fauna, and meadows, a perfect spot for nature lovers and those seeking relaxation. In the final part of our trip, my husband and I, after visiting much of the eastern part of the reserve, visited the Ombrone stream, located in the western section. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, we weren't able to visit the entire area, especially since the reserve is so large. However, we did visit the stream in the western section. Fortunately, the paths to the river in this section are better defined and easier to navigate. In fact, we found a well-made path that quickly led us to the river. We sat down to cool our feet and relax. There's no cell phone reception here, so we were able to read and unwind in peace amidst nature. The vegetation here was also quite dense, but there were slightly more sunny spots than in the eastern section. We spent a few hours relaxing by the river and then decided to leave because we had dinner with friends that evening.

So we decided to head home. To get home, we didn't take the same route we'd taken on the way there; we took a famous road in the area called "La Riola." It's a winding road through the mountains that takes you directly to the city of Pistoia. As I mentioned in previous posts, the nature reserve is so large that it's part of two municipalities, Prato and Pistoia, and so there are various roads leading to the reserve in both municipalities. From this road, like the others, you can admire the beautiful mountain views but also those of the valley as you slowly descend towards the city, passing through small villages like Le Pozze and Ponzano, places immersed in greenery with a few scattered houses, surrounded by fields. And so our adventure at the nature reserve ended. Now that the weather is getting cooler, I don't know when we'll be back. I'd love to go back in the winter because with the snow, it's a truly magnificent place! Or even in the fall with the beautiful colors of the autumn leaves!
