Hello, Hivers! It is my first time posting here and I feel ecstatic getting to know more Hivers in this community.

Matatag Curriculum aims to enhance students' academic performance - literacy and numeracy skills, including life skills. It focuses more on the core needs of the diverse learners which include reading and comprehending well, dealing with numbers properly, and learning skills for everyday life.

We had our district training before the end of the previous school year. For the secondary or high school department, only the grade 7 teachers are part of the seminar. I was not handling grade 7 subject but because some teachers handle two like Science 7 and MAPEH 7, other teachers were called to be present in the said seminar. Unfortunately, I was included in the MAPEH 7 (Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health) group. For eight years in public teaching, I haven't experienced handling MAPEH 7. Knowing how complex these students are, they are still in transition from their elementary years to high school, handling MAPEH, aiming to develop four categories and skills, is such a workload to carry. That's a hats off to all MAPEH majors or non-majors handling the subject.

Going back to the seminar, we overheard that there would be a demonstration teaching on the last day of the training. For other subjects, those who were called to have the demo teaching were the teachers majoring the subject. I wonder why it wasn't maam @roxiejam for the English group. Hehehe. For the MAPEH group, three majors were with us. I was with @rosealign too. I was expecting that one of them would take the demo session. We were given strips of paper and whoever picked the paper written with "Congratulations!" would be the unlucky demonstrator. And so, I was immensely unlucky.

I took the preparation lightly hoping they would change their mind. I just wrote my lesson plan and prepared the instructional materials the night before the demo teaching. I was grateful to @rosealign for printing my IMs.☺️

I was happy that my teacher-groupmates cooperated well during the demonstration. I wasn't that nervous during the demo but what frightened me was the face-to-face critiquing with the observer in front of my co-teachers.

When I saw my rating and afterwards received my certificate, I felt accomplished and fulfilled. What a way to continue my pursuit towards personal and professional growth!

Indeed, it was, it is, and it will never be that easy to be a teacher. We wear different kinds of hats - a parent, a disciplinarian, an entertainer, a counselor, and a lot more. Salute to all the teachers who aim to always be better for their students.👏
