Echoes of Time: The Heartbeat of the Ancestral Cosmos in Axes of Light

This research forms the foundation of my doctoral thesis, which is supported by years of personal investigation into the intersections of art, science, and philosophy. Through an interdisciplinary approach that integrates ancestral knowledge with contemporary technological advancements, this project seeks to transcend traditional academic boundaries and propose new methodologies for artistic creation and cultural reparation. The depth of this inquiry reflects a sustained commitment to exploring the transformative potential of art as both a decolonial tool and a medium for reimagining collective memory.

The title "Echoes of Time: The Heartbeat of the Ancestral Cosmos in Axes of Light", encapsulates the essence of an artistic project that transcends the traditional boundaries of art, science, and philosophy. Inspired by historical figures such as Guaicaipuro, Yevgeny Murzin, Alexander Scriabin, and Andrei Tarkovsky, this multimedia work stands as a bridge between the ancestral and the contemporary, the tangible and the intangible. Through digital tools like Phonopaper and traditional plastic techniques, I convert percussive sounds into visual forms that act as "aesthetic reprogramming" against colonial epistemicide. This process not only pays homage to historical figures like Guaicaipuro, a symbol of indigenous resistance, but also challenges the viewer to reflect on how colonial wounds still resonate in our societies and how art can be a means to heal them. Inspired by the theory of the "Superfilament," each brushstroke encapsulates fundamental vibrations of the cosmos, connecting the ancestral with the contemporary. The artistic project represents an interdisciplinary convergence of music, technology, and visual art, inspired by historical figures such as Yevgeny Murzin, Alexander Scriabin, and Andrei Tarkovsky.

From a philosophical perspective, this work adopts Tarkovsky's notion of "sculpting time," understanding each artistic intervention as an act of capturing immortalized fragments of emotional and poetic reality. The Andromeda Paradox, which questions relative simultaneity depending on the observer's frame of reference, finds resonance in how the artist overlays historical and cultural events on a single canvas, challenging temporal linearity. By fusing technological tools with ancestral practices, Padilla creates a hybrid artistic language that transcends borders and eras, inviting the viewer to experience multiple coexisting realities. This approach not only expands the possibilities of multimedia art but also proposes a model of creation that defies Eurocentric conventions.

This artistic project connects too with the Andromeda Paradox by exploring how the perception of time and simultaneity depends on the observer's frame of reference. Inspired by this concept, I use digital tools like Phonopaper to overlay historical and contemporary events in a single artwork, challenging temporal linearity. By integrating the concept of "Motion Chances" (where motion alters the perception of time), each plastic intervention on the digital prints becomes an act of "sculpting time," where the historical and the modern coexist in a dynamic dialogue that invites the viewer to reflect on the relative nature of time.

My project establishes a profound connection with the circle of fifths by integrating its harmonic structure into an esoteric and mystical framework, while maintaining a rigorous academic approach. The circle of fifths serves as a symbolic and structural foundation, where each tonality is represented through unique colors and astrological glyphs, evoking the "Music of the Spheres" and the vibrational essence of the cosmos. This synthesis is further enriched by tritonal modulations, which introduce tension and duality, reflecting the complexities of time and memory. By merging these elements with ancestral knowledge and contemporary technology, the project transcends traditional musical theory, proposing a multidisciplinary exploration of sound, visual art, and philosophy, rooted in both historical traditions and innovative methodologies. By the way, the "Music of the Spheres," its a philosophical and esoteric concept that connects the harmony of the cosmos with the fundamental vibrations of the universe, holds a central place in my project. Inspired by this ancient idea, each artistic intervention seeks to reflect cosmic order through sounds and visual forms, evoking a deep connection between the microscopic and the infinite. By integrating this notion into my work, I materialize the relationship between celestial movement and human vibrations, transcending the tangible to explore the ethereal.

Technology plays a crucial role in this creative process, democratizing access to tools that allow the fusion of the analog and the digital. Phonopaper, developed by Alexander Zolotov, converts sounds into printable visual codes that can be manually intervened, creating a dynamic dialogue between the ephemeral and the permanent. Inspired by Murzin's ANS synthesizer, which revolutionized musical creation by converting images into sounds, Padilla takes this idea a step further by integrating vectorization, the application of specific colors, and physical intervention on digital prints. This approach not only materializes sound into visual forms but also explores how movement and rhythm can alter our perception of time, creating an immersive experience that connects the auditory, the visual, and the temporal.

Finally, this decolonial manifesto unites the historical and the contemporary, the digital and the tangible, exploring how art can contribute to the construction of emancipatory futures. Inspired by over 30 years of artistic experience in Venezuela, Padilla builds a bridge between ancestral knowledge and 21st-century technological innovations. Through this creation, he invites the audience to rethink the legacy of figures like Guaicaipuro not as relics of the past, but as beacons illuminating the path toward a more equitable and root-conscious society. Thus, "Echoes of Time: The Heartbeat of the Ancestral Cosmos in Axes of Light" is not just a multimedia artwork but also a call for interdisciplinary experimentation and social transformation.

The circle of fifths:

The circle of fifthsis a fundamental tool in music theory that organizes keys (major and minor) in a circular format, based on intervals of a perfect fifth. This circle allows for the visualization of harmonic relationships between different keys and is particularly useful for understanding modulations, harmonic progressions, and the structure of scales.

When we talk about the circle of fifths with tritonal modulations, we are introducing an advanced concept of harmony that combines the use of the circle of fifths with the tritone interval (an augmented fourth or diminished fifth), which is one of the most tense and characteristic intervals in Western music. This combination has interesting implications both in terms of composition and musical analysis.

Esta síntesis se enriquece aún más con modulaciones tritonales, que introducen tensión y dualidad, reflejando las complejidades del tiempo y la memoria. Al fusionar estos elementos con saberes ancestrales y tecnología contemporánea, el proyecto trasciende la teoría musical tradicional, proponiendo una exploración multidisciplinaria del sonido, el arte visual y la filosofía, arraigada tanto en tradiciones históricas como en metodologías innovadoras. A través de esta creación, invita al público a repensar el legado de figuras como Guaicaipuro no como reliquias del pasado, sino como faros que iluminan el camino hacia una sociedad más equitativa y consciente de sus raíces. Así, "Ecos del Tiempo: El Latido del Cosmos Ancestral en Hachas de Luz" no es solo una obra multimedia, sino también un llamado a la experimentación interdisciplinaria y la transformación social.

Círculo de Quintas:

El círculo de quintas es una herramienta fundamental en la teoría musical que organiza las tonalidades (mayores y menores) de manera circular, basándose en intervalos de quinta justa. Este círculo permite visualizar relaciones armónicas entre diferentes tonalidades y es especialmente útil para entender modulaciones, progresiones armónicas y la estructura de escalas.

Cuando hablamos del círculo de quintas con modulaciones tritonales , estamos introduciendo un concepto avanzado de armonía que combina el uso del círculo de quintas con el intervalo de tritono (una cuarta aumentada o quinta disminuida), que es uno de los intervalos más tensos y característicos en la música occidental. Esta combinación tiene implicaciones interesantes tanto en términos de composición como de análisis musical.
