Throwback: The Day a Child's Plea Changed My Perspective
1 comment
I went to get some stuff for myself, when a young girl approached me.
She held my hands, fell on her knees and tried to communicate using sign language.
Although she didn't say a word, I knew that she needed money.
I explained to her that the money with me is my fare, but she refused to let go.
She held my legs and was rolling on the ground.
As the drama went on, I noticed that all eyes were on me, since it was a busy area. I felt so embarrassed.
"Who is this girl?
Who are her parents?
Why is she disturbing me of all people for money?
Why now that I'm not with extra cash?"
All these questions ran through my mind.
After contemplating on what to do, I deducted #50 from my fare and gave it to her, then she left me.
I really thanked God that the bus I boarded was driven by a kind man. He accepted the money that was left.
°It makes me cry, whenever I see children on the streets suffering and begging for alms
Some of them are being deprived of their right to education.
They hawk during school hours, instead of joining their mates in school.
Many of them are exposed to danger, while trying to survive.
Parents, guardians, government and the entire nation should understand that;
Children should be valued!
Children should be protected!
Children should be loved!
Children are the leaders of tomorrow!
My prayer is, our children will never experience hardship in life.
And please...!work hard and strive to give your children a better life than yours.
