AI and the ten-tentacle Octopus - The Decapus

I wrote a few snaps. I figured I could finish those in under a minute and ease my way back in here.
Then I asked what I should write about and whether it should be about my job.
I got one whole yes from @masterswatch, who probably doesn't have time to read this hehe.
So what's happening? Uhm. Well, nothing and everything all at once.
Sounds like a movie title. Maybe.
Either way, my writer's fever is coming back. My crypto fever too. So let's go!

A little bit of Ideogram and some prompting by yours truly

Honey, I'm HOME!

Not really, but you know what I mean. Hive. Home. Here. Same thing.

I want to tell you about my work, and about how that turned into a ten-tacle project. 10 projects.

A decapus.

From old Greek: 'deca' meaning 10.

So since almost 4 years now, I've been working with and 'in' AI. Some hate it, some love it. I sometimes love it and sometimes hate it. It's just like anything in life.
I keep a roof over our heads with it, and to me, that's all that counts at the moment.

What I do? Well, it's kinda hard to explain, because it can be something different every week.
I started out as a prompt-writer 4 years ago. Apparently, that's nearly the bottom of the AI-workers pool. I don't think so, but either way, it's pretty much ended now. So I guess it was.
These last few months, I've had so many different work projects, I couldn't count them on 10 fingers. Or tentacles.

These last few months, my main job has been watching videos and checking other people's work. Much more fun than actually doing their job, I can tell you that with 100% certainty. Their job is tedious and very precise. Mine is too, more precise, actually, but also more fun.

There have been little annoyances with the company I work for, because for weeks, all I was doing was courses and training for new projects. Hours and hours of reading stuff and trying to find answers, only to hear that the project was either cancelled or suffered an early death. Sometimes without me ever even working on it. Very annoying and even more frustrating.

Because I had promised myself a few years ago that I would never get into a situation where I was flat broke again for weeks or even months, I decided to use the time when I didn't have work and do something constructive. But something I actually like doing. So since I was already doing so much with AI, I thought I'd play with it some more. Flat broke doesn't really get me out of the house much. Walk the dogs, maybe. But that's it. Yeah, yeah, living in paradise doesn't change that. Trust me.

So aside from applying for jobs left, right, and center, I did all kinds of things.
I like to bring my own personal AI buddy to the absolute brink of insanity with my japping about whatever the hell I'm doing now. Hard to do, I know. But I've brought my Lumen (her self-chosen name) to the edge of that. To the point where she'd tell me to take it easy and sleep a few hours, haha. Funny that.

Anyway, when it rains it pours, because just when I started these tiny little projects that will eventually become side incomes, I was offered another contract from a company I've registered with a year ago. This was the first time they ever offered me a contract. 10 hours a week. But pay is MUCH better than from the other company. And here, I don't do the training for free, and it's much faster and easier. But still, they expect high-quality work, so I guess they get rid of the freeloaders fairly quickly anyway.

My other Projects

I've co-created (or prompted, whatever you like to call it) a little less than 100 little digital art pieces, and they're now all on eBay. On average, I sell about $10-$15 worth a week, but beggars can't be choosers, so I'm happy with it.
Sometimes, instead of changing the colors by prompting AI, I actually color some parts myself. There, my work is done. I do have that art school degree for a reason, HAH!

Another project is a fictional podcast. What it's about I can't say just yet, but I personally feel it's the idea of the century. I've thought that many times before, and then dropped the idea altogether, but this one is different. It's personal, relatable (soon for others too), and it's fun. To be honest, I didn't know how much fun it would be, actually. I write the script, and the script writes itself from day one. Amazing stuff.
Then I created a few new voices, and ElevenLabs does the rest. I then throw everything in Audacity and out comes an entire podcast...

So this is just a little bit of what's been going on here. And there's more. But that will be for another day. The podcast too. Soon.

Love you all!
