Sketchbook Time: The Girl with that Grinch Vibe💚

Hello, dear aliens and creative community ;)
It took me a long time to publish this new drawing from my personal sketchbook... I was thinking about doing another fan art, but i decided against it because i also have to fill this little book, which will probably take me a little longer since it's bigger. I admit that i've gotten used to smaller sketchbooks because i can obviously do many more drawings in less time, and i also think they look cuter and more unusual. However, it's good to have variety, and the idea is to experiment with different formats, although i hadn't thought about a very important point that makes large formats a disadvantage, which is that i run out of materials faster, hahaha.

Sketching

I started looking for references and inspiration by looking at photos on Pinterest. i had planned to do something with an owl in it, but in the end i didn't do anything i had planned, i just let myself be carried away by the pose and silhouette of a face in a photo made with AI... I never try to draw anything exactly, i just use it as a guide so i don't end up with crazy silhouettes and shapes. This time i don't have a photo of the pencil sketch because with this white background and at night it wasn't very clear, so i just took my drawing pens and started outlining. The inking stage began, i just let all that black ink flow to see more clearly what other details i would add later. I didn't have a specific idea.

Markers

When i finished that black step, i already knew i wanted skin that was either green or blue... But i had a small problem, which was that the alcohol marker i chose was drying out, and so was the other one i used for the base, so i had to wait for the ink to dry a little and finish this step for the skin base. Then i started with colored pencils to give my creature's skin a better finish. I used apple green, mustard yellow, orange, magenta, and blue for other final details and to make it stand out a little more. I really like this style with vibrant and unusual colors.

I added several colored spheres with acrylic markers, and the first base of the background was also acrylic with an olive green tone. Finally, i added another layer with a green and magenta alcohol marker to outline my greenish girl. And little dots with White acrylic.

The End

I admit that i had a hard time getting started on this drawing. I've had so many things on my mind to do, other responsibilities that i have to organize, so sometimes I'm torn between doing this or starting something else... But i really want to fulfill my commitment to fill up the sketchbooks that i made with so much love and care. Although i was a little skeptical about this sketch because i'm used to doing more complex things, so something simple doesn't quite fit or convince me at first, but i try not to panic and respect the creative process. And that's how this girl turned out. For some reason, and without planning it, she has a Christmas vibe, and at the same time, i think she also represents the character of the Grinch. Her pose reminded me of Edward Scissorhands' girlfriend when she was dancing while he was sculpting the sculpture that resembled her. And that's all for now. Have a happy weekend ;)
