Today I want to share with you a very special chapter of our renovation project: the progress in our kitchen. As many of you know, transforming a space involves not only materials and tools, but also dreams, effort, and a lot of creativity.
Recently, the company where my husband worked closed its doors unexpectedly. Although it was a difficult time, it also brought unexpected opportunities. As the business vacated, it began selling and, in some cases, giving away items like desks, doors, windows, and kitchen cabinets at prices well below market value. My husband, always observant and practical, took advantage of every opportunity to bring home anything that might be useful to us.
Among those treasures were the kitchen cabinets. How exciting! Seeing them at home was like receiving a gift from fate, a sign to take the next step in our project.
Inspired by this opportunity, we decided to build the kitchen countertops. A few weeks ago we started this project, and now it's time to install the cabinets. But this time, we didn't wait for the carpenter. My husband, with that "can-do" attitude I admire so much, decided to do it himself.
He took measurements, adjusted every centimeter, cut, glued, and reassembled the cabinets so they would fit our space perfectly. Watching him work with such dedication filled me with pride. When it comes to our home, he transforms: he's a carpenter, electrician, designer… all in one!
Although there are still some details to fine-tune and the granite countertop is still pending—for that, we are waiting for the professional granite installer—we are thrilled with the result so far. The kitchen is starting to take shape, and every corner reflects the effort and love we've put into it.
Here are some pictures of the process and how it's coming along. It not only looks good, but it feels good. Because beyond the aesthetics, every screw, every cut, and every adjustment has a story behind it.
This project has taught us that even amidst change and challenges, there's always room to build something new. Sometimes, the best opportunities come disguised as obstacles. And when you work as a team, with love and creativity, the result is much more than a beautiful kitchen; it's a home that reflects who you are.

Verlos en casa fue como recibir un regalo del destino, una señal para dar el siguiente paso en nuestro proyecto. Inspirados por esta oportunidad, decidimos construir los mesones de la cocina. Hace algunas semanas comenzamos con esa tarea, y ahora llegó el momento de instalar los muebles. Pero esta vez, no esperamos al carpintero. Mi esposo, con esa actitud de “sí se puede” que tanto admiro, se propuso hacerlo él mismo. Tomó medidas, ajustó centímetros, cortó, pegó y volvió a armar los gabinetes para que se adaptaran perfectamente a nuestro espacio. Verlo trabajar con tanta dedicación me llenó de orgullo. Cuando se trata de nuestro hogar, él se transforma: es carpintero, electricista, diseñador… ¡todo en uno! Aunque aún faltan algunos detalles por afinar y el tope de granito está pendiente, para eso sí esperamos al granitero profesional, el resultado hasta ahora nos tiene encantados. La cocina empieza a tomar forma, y cada rincón refleja el esfuerzo y cariño que le hemos puesto. Aquí les dejo algunas imágenes del proceso y cómo va quedando. No solo se ve bien, sino que se siente bien. Porque más allá de lo estético, cada tornillo, cada corte y cada ajuste tiene una historia detrás. Este proyecto nos ha enseñado que, incluso en medio de los cambios y desafíos, siempre hay espacio para construir algo nuevo. A veces, las mejores oportunidades llegan disfrazadas de obstáculos. Y cuando se trabaja en equipo, con amor y creatividad, el resultado es mucho más que una cocina bonita, es un hogar que habla de nosotros.
