Good morning, @worldmappin community. Continuing with my cruise trip (I'll leave the first post below in case you haven't read it), after returning from Rio de Janeiro, the ship began to head south until it reached the island of Ilhabela, a place I recommend visiting. It's really beautiful; the images look like something out of a film about pirates arriving on a virgin island. Although there are buildings, they are very low houses.
There are about six waterfalls to explore, diving excursions ranging from beginner to certified and technical, an ecological sanctuary, shipwrecks to visit, caves, diving in both closed and open waters, and an archipelago to visit. The island is 213 km from Sao Paulo, then you have to take a three-hour car ride to San Sebastian Island, where a ferry takes you to Ilhabela, which has more than 40 beaches.
We got off the cruise ship far from the island because the ship is very large and would run aground, and we didn't take a pirate ship to get there. It dropped us off in the centre where the shops are, and there you can book excursions and get maps of the island to explore it. We used the map and headed to the right looking for a nice beach (everything is beautiful, but the first beaches have a lot of boats and I don't like swimming near them). We walked for about 30 minutes at a leisurely pace and arrived at a beach called Itaquandua, where we stayed to have a drink, eat something and swim. The food and drink were very cheap, as is the case for us Argentinians compared to our own prices. First, we ordered a beer with chips, then we had fish with salad and rice for lunch and a hamburger for my daughter, along with two caipirinhas and an orange juice, all for 68 dollars. The food and drinks were excellent quality, and the location was unbeatable, sitting at a table with a parasol under a huge tree that provided plenty of shade. It couldn't have been better.
We arrived at the beach at around 8 in the morning and at 1 p.m. my husband boarded the boat. As we had a little time left, my daughter and I stayed behind to do some shopping.
We agreed with my family to return, but not by cruise ship, but by plane, and to stay for a week, which I think would be ideal to see everything.
Well, I'll say goodbye for now. Tomorrow I'll continue with Camboriu and tell you something about the cruise. Thank you for reading, see you soon.
