Panyin Animated Style

The creation began with the sketch, where I focused on defining Panyin’s stance and overall attitude. I wanted him to look strong but not intimidating, so I played with the balance between round shapes and a firm posture. The lines at this stage were loose and dynamic, allowing me to visualize his personality right from the start.

El proceso comenzó con el boceto, en el cual me concentré en definir la postura y la actitud general de Panyin. Quería que se viera fuerte pero no intimidante, así que busqué equilibrar las formas redondeadas con una pose firme. Las líneas fueron sueltas y dinámicas, permitiéndome visualizar su carácter desde el principio.

Once the base structure felt right, I moved on to the line art. Here I refined every detail, giving clarity to his expression, folds in his cape, and the elegant curves of his jade staff. I wanted the linework to feel alive, flowing naturally to maintain the anime aesthetic I was aiming for.

Una vez que la estructura base estuvo lista, pasé al delineado. En esta etapa afiné cada detalle, desde la expresión facial hasta los pliegues de la capa y las curvas elegantes del bastón de jade. Quería que las líneas transmitieran energía y movimiento, manteniendo la estética anime que buscaba.

Next came the coloring, one of my favorite parts. I chose warm tones for the cape and golden outlines to contrast with the panda’s monochromatic fur. The jade green of the staff added a mystical touch, symbolizing wisdom and inner balance. This combination brought life and meaning to the entire piece.

Luego llegó el coloreado, una de mis partes favoritas. Elegí tonos cálidos para la capa y contornos dorados que contrastaran con el pelaje blanco y negro del panda. El verde jade del bastón añadió un toque místico, simbolizando sabiduría y equilibrio interior. Esta combinación llenó de vida y significado toda la obra.

The shading stage added volume and depth to the character. I used soft gradients and warm shadows to enhance the folds of his clothing and the roundness of his form. The lighting was key in emphasizing his stance, giving him presence and weight in the scene.

La etapa de sombras aportó volumen y profundidad al personaje. Utilicé degradados suaves y sombras cálidas para resaltar los pliegues de la ropa y la forma redondeada del cuerpo. La iluminación fue fundamental para realzar su postura, dándole presencia y fuerza dentro de la escena.

With highlights, I added a touch of magic — the subtle glow on the jade staff, the light on his eyes, and the shimmer along the edges of the cape. These small details made the illustration come alive and gave Panyin that distinctive spark of energy.

Con los brillos añadí un toque de magia: el resplandor sutil en el bastón de jade, la luz en sus ojos y el brillo en los bordes de la capa. Estos pequeños detalles hicieron que la ilustración cobrara vida y que Panyin tuviera ese destello de energía que lo caracteriza.

Finally, I worked on the background, which I envisioned as a tranquil landscape inspired by nature. The green tones and mountain silhouettes create a calm atmosphere that contrasts beautifully with Panyin’s fiery determination.

Finalmente, trabajé en el fondo, que imaginé como un paisaje tranquilo inspirado en la naturaleza. Los tonos verdes y las siluetas de las montañas crean una atmósfera serena que contrasta maravillosamente con la determinación encendida de Panyin.

Creating this fan art of Panyin was a joyful experience. I felt deeply connected to the character’s theme of balance — strength and calmness coexisting in perfect harmony. The jade staff became the heart of the artwork, a symbol of wisdom and tranquility that guided the entire composition.

Crear este fan art de Panyin fue una experiencia realmente gratificante. Sentí una conexión especial con el tema del personaje: el equilibrio entre la fuerza y la calma coexistiendo en perfecta armonía. El bastón de jade se convirtió en el corazón de la obra, un símbolo de sabiduría y serenidad que guió toda la composición.
