Let’s explore another #HISTORICAL #LANDMARK today with me. The LÅNGHUSET I VISKAN - A 70 METER LONGHOUSE from the early 19th Century ~ in STÖDE, in Västernorrland County, SWEDEN. 🇸🇪
It was even used in a movie 🎥 come and check it out 😎 It looks lretty cool.

Shall we have a look at this historical landmark - The LONGHOUSE and its cool #ARCHITECTURE now 😎
We wrap up warm again as it is truly freezing outside. One thing I know… we can’t stay out too long in these temperatures 🥶
So let’s go 😁

As we can see it is located right next to the train crossing 🚂 behind it we find the RIVER VISKAN. I took this photo from across the train track on this winters day ☃️

There are a few parts of this longhouse that are occupied right now, but most parts of it are empty though. #Abandoned is a better word I think. The facade is very weathered… through the years and most of the paint is peeling off the wooden facade.
This is the right side of the longhouse 😎

Shops and businesses have been occupying the building throughout the years.

We walk just a bit further, around it on the right side. We see the river Viskan and a bridge through the trees. A pretty sight.

I like the reflections of the bridge in the water. It was too cold 🥶 that day to stay out for a long time to cross the bridge to see the back of this longhouse. So we stayed on this side of it.

Looking back and slowly wandering along the LONGHOUSE. I Love the #oldschool #vibes, the sign with RUM. Not the rum 🥃 you think about 😉 haha. This was part of the hotel that was once here and means room.

I walk a bit further into the road to capture more of this #building.

In the middle of the longhouse we see this:

The view back from where we came from. We parked the car just under the trees in the middle, right side of the road in this photo. There were a few parking spots mostly for residents.

At the end of this longhouse we can see more #architectural #features. Even with the snow it stands out. I think it is the weathered wood of this building that does that. It makes it pretty cool to see.

We cross the road and take in the views better. It is stunning… imagine a house that is more than 70 meters long 😳 from so long ago. I get all excited hahaha must be the #engineer in me. 🤓

So many details to take in. I try to imagine when it would have been fully occupied. It seems it was the middle point of the village many moons ago…

At the cross roads we look along it.

It is a great place to stop when you are driving around that area. To see this historical landmark: Långhuset i Viskan. The things those walls could tell… pretty cool it was used in a movie too. A great filmset for sure. If you like #history and architecture I would include this stop for sure. 😊
