It’s 12:01, and I still can’t close my eyes. I decide to walk around the neighborhood. A few people ride home. Streetlights flare in the quiet night, casting long shadows on empty roads.

A small retailer is still open, waiting for the last customers. I buy a cigarette, light it with a match, and continue walking, accompanied by the white smoke

I arrive at a shopping arcade, and most of the stalls are closed. There is a coffee shop still open. A few people are playing cards and having coffee inside.

The air is not too cold. I sit on an empty bench, enjoying the midnight breeze. Every sip of the cigarette warms my body. I feel comfortable and relaxed. Slowly, I hear a man singing karaoke from the coffee shop. I enjoy the song too.

A friend of mine arrived late from work. He always goes home at midnight. He usually stops at the arcade to have coffee before going home. He calls his friend to come, but the call doesn’t go through.

After waiting five minutes, I decide to head home. I feel more relaxed now and a bit sleepy. Hopefully, I can get a good night’s sleep.

I may be suffering from insomnia. I always sleep late—sometimes between 12 and 2 a.m. My body feels tired, but forcing my eyes to close is harder than walking around. Walking helps me cope with the insomnia.

Midnight wind touches my face
I walk slowly, finding peace
Good night!
