Hello, how are you? Today is my 4th year of existence here on Hive! Yehet!!! And it is a good start to the year for me, I guess this year is my year in terms of health and luck.

It feels like just a year for me because last year was my most active, with me rarely posting in my early years here.

I made a lot of friends and became confident to share what I love to do without the pressure of being myself. And I have improved a lot and am happier and content with life.

I wish to achieve my goal for myself this year, and I wish that too to you who is reading this blog right now, and ofcourse better mental and physical health.

By the way, to celebrate my 4th year here in hive what is the thing or food that you always never miss in any occasion, Cake? Yes cake!

I am going to make my cake for my anniversary, but in clay form ofcourse LOL, I was supposed to make the real cake or buy one, but nah, I’ll just make one. This is my first time making a clay cake, so bear with me hahaha. I hope you like it.

Hive buzz reminded me that it is my Hive Birthday Today!

Materials I Used:

  • Glass Sheet
  • Polymer Clay
  • Portable Weighing Scale
  • Gum Container
  • Tree Brush Tool
  • Soft Pastels
  • Piping Tip
  • Baking Piping Tip
  • X Acto Knife
  • Glue
  • Palette Knife
  • Toothpick
  • Oven

Craft Time!

First, I condition the clay until soft by kneading it or by using an acrylic rolling pin, but I prefer hands.

I am going to make a three layer of cake, so I am going to weigh those three equally using a portable weighing scale.

And then I shape the three into a ball.

Using the cap of the medicine container, I press down each clay into a flat shape to imitate the look of cake bread.

This part took me a long time. To add the texture of the cake bread, I use this tree brush tool.

13.JPG

I am going to add a strawberry to my cake. To make the strawberry, I use translucent clay and then shape it into a strawberry shape.

This one took me a long time to add shade LOL, but in the end, it looks satisfying. To add shade, I use soft pastels and a brush.

17.JPG

To add the icing design, I use a piping tip that I bought years ago and fill the inside with white clay, and then to push that clay to form like icing, I use any tool I have that is thin enough to push out the clay.

Now the icing clay is out, I stretch it long and then twisted in to form like icing.

And then cut it into pieces using the x acto knife. Set it aside for later use.

23.JPG

For the choco filling, I use a mixture of clear glue and dark brown clay. If it is too light, I add some soft pastels to achieve the color I wanted.

24.JPG

25.JPG

Using the palette knife, I spread the filling into the cake bread I made earlier.

26.JPG

27.JPG

And then I added the icing I made earlier.

And then I do the same on the other layer.

After the third layer, this is what it looks like.

And then I added the strawberries I made earlier.

I decided to make a dedication word just like the one I saw to cake store. I just use white clay, shape it into a rectangle, and then I add the words using a mixture of soft pastels and clear glue. I forgot to document the baking process, but I preheat the oven first and then bake the clay on time and temperature as the packaging instructed.
