Ember Shell
Lore:

Ember Shell a small, optimistic spirit, the remnant of ancient beings that once carried guiding light through the deep forest. She is anchored to the physical world by her brittle shell and a hollow head shaped like a nut cap. She carries the faint, flickering Ember light in her chest. When a traveler passes by, Ember Shell may give a quick little bite with her small fangs, to sap a tiny amount of warmth, which she needs to prevent her own fragile inner light from dying out completely.

This drawing is my interpretation of the prompt : Gloamhusk for the character design challenge called charactober by @london65

Here are some design considerations as prescribed by the drawing chalenge and these served as my guide in making my own character come to life:

Cluster Anchor: Lanterns, shells, hollow casings.
Lore: An empty shell at twilight, Gloamhusk carries faint light like it remembers warmth, but the glow never brightens
Design Hook:
Hollow body with faint glow inside.
Cracked lantern embedded in chest.
Fragile exoskeleton peeling away.

I used my Berry Cap character from my previous forest folk character drawing as my inspiration for this new mushroom like character, Gloamhusk.

I kept that signature nut like brown cap to maintain the look I love for my Berry Cap. This time the teeth are showing to make it more interesting

Here I had to make sure the design hooks are in place like that hollow shell and that cracking plus the light inside the shell

Finally the background I made it similar to my favorite forest folk background with deep greens and big foliage
