Christmas Events

Yesterday was the turning on of the Christmas lights in the town, and during these events across the whole of Ireland it kind of is the official start to the Chistmas season, even if super markets would have us believe that the season actually starts on the 29th of October (or sometimes even before Halloween itself...) I love Christmas, but damn, I wish they'd leave the decorations and advertisements down until we're maybe half way through December.

For fear of sounding like a Grinch, I'll continue with the photos.

Here is Kaleb and his Granddad onboard a fire truck.

Aimee's dad knows the chief of the local fire brigade, and he alongside a few of the other fire fighters were at the even last night, haven driven Santa to switch on the lights.

After a speech, some music, the lighting of the tree and also a pretty kickass fireworks display the truck and crew were talking with people down there and we brought Kaleb down to them and asked if he could climb aboard.

He is obsessed with cars, and every type of emergency vehicle so for him it was the highlight of the night; he hasn't stopped talking about it, and he is Santa crazy too now.

Here's Ollie in his big boy pram before heading to the event.

The day marked Ollie's 4th month, he is a little bruiser now which is amazing. It's funny, only 4 months ago I was able to hold him in one hand. (Not that I did, but when holding him, I knew I would have been able to because he was that small.)

Here's the four of us in front of the tree after it had been lit.

While taking this picture the fireworks were still going off, so Kaleb was more interested in what was happening not far away in the sky. Ollie, on the other hand was very aware of the camera and seemed petrified by things beyond our own comprehension.

Kaleb had to have one of these little light stick things.

Every kid down there had one, or even two of these things during the event. I tell you what, it's a solid little business venture, I'm surprised they had any stock left.

Luckily, it wasn't too cold of a night down there and the rain held off which was a major plus too.

Here's us today at another Christmas event at the local shopping centre.

Santa had a big entrance today, he arrived by boat, hopped aboard a one horse drawn carriage, while being chased by a Grinch who was trying to rob presents.

It was a lot of fun down in the centre today, and there was a really good turn out for it.

Kaleb was singing along and clapping every time there were big cheers from the crowd. He also pointed and shouted at the Grinch telling him to go home, the poor lad, he was just trying to do his job.

This evening was my towns Christmas lights celebration, but Kaleb skipped a nap so was tired and cranky and was ready for bed shortly after dinner. Also, me and Aimee were a bit Christmas'd out for one weekend, so we were happy enough to give it a miss.

It was a lot of fun, and there are plenty more weekends and activities planned out as we approach the big day.
