Making an extra buck with Prolific

I think it was about a year ago that I saw a post either from @xrayman or by @pardinus about the world of Profilic and filling in surveys for a small bit of cash. Prolific is a middle man organisation which helps researchers find their audience, and which helps people who are willing to make a survey here and there find theirs surveys and earn an extra buck.

Talk about win win situation is you ask me and the conclusion for me after a year is that this stuff actually works.

When looking at the payout, and I am someone who is not behind their computer a lot and doesn't always have to time, this still made me $100 bucks of some side cash for a little extra thing here and there.

I guess in some countries this really could make some life changing funds!

No referral in this, nothing to earn by spreading the word. These are real researchers connected to universities who want answers to their questions.

What type of surveys is this about?

Well actually it has been all kinds of things that has passed by over the year. Of course their will be super boring questionnaires about political beliefs or capitulation of our economic system, or on a product of milk for instance if you prefer the green label or the blue label on the same package.

I helps to fill in the starting questions of the system which makes you more easier to find and target by researchers if you fit their researching population. If the question on your personal info doesn't suit you, just leave it open.

But recently also posts dropped by referring for instance to an Instagram post and the influencer wanted to know if I found the post appealing or not.

That is the good thing with Prolific, you don't have to participate if the survey is not something for you. For instance, I don't like making surveys that require to download some software (hello crypto safety measures) and I also don't like using any form of audio in there.

So that means sometimes I will be waiting for studies and the screen looks like this.

Once there is a study that appeals to you, you put in your Prolific account number, and not your own personal data. That is what I like about this, I don't like my name and data ending up somewhere. But it is okay to me that prolific ID 69798u09u ends up in the stats.

Sure, the rewards are not that big, but the effort to make some here and there are also not that big if you are waiting on the bus for instance.

But in the end everything adds up in the smaller numbers, turning into something tangible that actually lets you buy stuff.

I think you can start your payout from $5 already. Your account is linked to your Paypal account. I think I have made three payouts already now on this and every one had reached my Paypal account within the hour. Not bad right?

As always, this is no getting rich quick scheme. This is a hundred bucks in a year for me, but hey... We never say no to some cash here and there right?
