[Let's Play #5] Oblivion: REMASTERED! ⚔️

TESIV: Oblivion REMASTERED recently released (you can play it on Gamepass, btw!) and I very quickly dove head-first into the fiery depths of nostalgia.
In my last post Caelyra had proved herself worthy of becoming a member of the Thieves Guild! Now she sought to make a name for herself amongst these thieves by stealing a great treasure in Anvil.
She had to get there first, though.

She hadn't long left the city when already Ayleid ruins and an old fort beckoned for her to adventure within their walls.
Caelyra traversed their depths and then discovered something no self-respecting thief would dare admit out-loud: she was out of lockpicks. There were so many chests, and she couldn't break through their defenses without any lockpicks.
Woops.

She had fought through skeletons and ghosts for nothing.
But, at least she had discovered places to loot at a later date.

Grudgingly ignoring most of the interesting landmarks upon her path, Caelyra soon stood outside Skingrad.
After Skingrad would be Kvatch, and after Kvatch would be her primary destination: Anvil.

A highwayman stopped her. She narrowed her eyes. It looked just like the same khajiit who had attacked her earlier that week as she was trying to make her way to Jauffre.
She was not going to be bullied by a pussycat.

She refused to pay his toll then proceeded to electrocute the beast with her magical fingertips.
That'll learn him.
He soon lay dead, and rummaging through his pockets she was disappointed to find that he had absolutely nothing of any worth on his corpse. Not even a single golden coin.

Wanting to rest up for the night, she entered Skingrad and found the closest inn - but got ambushed by an eccentric wood elf before she could enter the building.
He wanted to speak to her! He needed to speak to her! Behind the Cathedral. After midnight.
She wanted no part in whatever nonsense this crazy person was trying to foist upon her. Pointedly ignoring his plea, she walked into the inn and bought a room for the night.

The next day, as she continued her journey ever onward, she couldn't help but waylay herself into a nearby cave... a nearby cave full of bandits, of course.

The leader of this group of miscreants was wearing magical armour! It wasn't the best enchanted armour she had ever seen, but it was better than the boring leather she was wearing.
She ripped the goods from the body and hastily dressed herself in them. Wrinkling her nose, she ignored the warmth the new gear imparted, knowing it to be the warmth from the man she had just killed.

Leaving the bandit cave, the warm sun shone down upon her and guided her towards a group of people standing by a grand statue.

It was a statue of Meridia - a shrine to a Daedric prince. Albeit one of the more benevolent Daedric princes.
The people there claimed that if Caelyra spoke to the statue and worshipped it, Meridia might place a great boon upon her.
Intriguing.
Approaching the statue, Caelyra bowed her head and inwardly asked for a great boon. There was no response. Of course there wasn't. What on earth had she been thinking? That a statue would bless her.

She had no time to waste hovering around stone statues in the likeness of a Prince.
She continued on to Anvil.

Anvil was a rather lovely little city. Apparently it had recently been attacked and a Prophet was expressing doom and gloom, though. That was none of her concern. She was here for treasure.
If she was going to stay here for a while though, looking for loot, she needed a legitimate reason or two to be there not to stir suspicion. And so she joined the Mage's and Fighter's Guilds. She had no intention of going very far with those organisations - they were simply a means to an end.
It was treasure hunting time!
Until next time! ⚔️🔥
