Technology ‐ The Easy Way

Technology makes life beautiful, less stressful, and more enjoyable. To me, technology is a wonderful man-made treasure that has affected lives positively in different ways. Back in the time of our forefathers, everything was done manually and they still enjoyed life doing things the way they were taught because they didn't know that there would be a better way to do the same activity with better results, less time and less stress.

The first time I accompanied my grandma to the farm, we trekked a very long distance with heavy loads of cassava on our head. The load was too heavy, and I thought I was going to pass out. Imagine trekking for over 1 hour with heavy loads. I complained as we journey back and when I couldn't bear it anymore, I threw it on the floor and my grandma was very angry telling me that the journey is just a stone throw to them because they've been doing same task for years.

I understood that it's something they've been used to, but for me, it's not something I want to be used to. I gave her a better option that will make things easier for everyone, and we will still get results. Bikes were already becoming a popular thing, and a few owned it in the village. I suggested we arrange with a bike man that would come get our loads after harvesting. The loads would be dropped at our house while we chatted and strolled back without carrying heavy loads and breaking our necks. My grandma liked the idea, and it made it easier. Not long, other members of the village got the idea and followed the same pattern. This way, life was easier for everyone.

Technology has also made traveling between countries achievable with the invention of airplanes. Before the airplane era, traveling to other countries would have taken weeks or months, especially if one was traveling to a different continent. It would have been impossible to also visit some countries but this is made very easy now because of technology.

When it comes to house chores, technology has been impactful. Dishwasher, washing machines, and kitchen gadgets have made things easier and achievable within a few minutes.

Technology has made communication easy and endless. We can communicate and chat with people in different regions and continents. We can do video calls and feel close to the person like the person is right beside us.

Even with all the positive impact of technology, we also need to be careful regarding its use especially when it comes to our gadgets because technology has also made it easier to hack people's profiles and steal their identity. People can be easily scammed, and reports of cyberbullying have been on the increase. One has to be careful not to give out private information online as technology has gone far that little details can be used to track someone and possibly scam them.

We have to put technology in its right place to get the full benefit. There has to be a limit and balance so that we can enjoy technology to the fullest.
