Hello there Madlang Hivers! It’s me @juvithavibes again bringing you another exciting blog to dive into. So grab a coffee, and get comfy. It’s been a while since I published my last blog, I was busy nowadays.
In this blog I will be sharing with you my experiences during my practice teaching at Inoburan Elementary School.
As I begin this journey, I realize that it's about more than just learning to teach It’s about growing as an individual and understanding the complexities of education from a fresh perspective.
February 17, 2025. This is the first day we were deployed to Inoburan Elementary School. I felt a mix of nervousness and excitement on that day because this is the first day, I will be meeting my new students again and also my new mentor.
Before anything else, their daily routine starts with the flag ceremony. Every morning the students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 gather for the flag ceremony. The school comes together to sing the national anthem.
The ceremony begins with the entire school standing together to sing the national anthem. It’s a moment where every voice from the youngest to the oldest students creates a sense of pride and togetherness. Watching the students their faces full of focus and respect highlights the significance of this tradition.
The students participate in a short exercise routine. This energizes everyone for the day ahead and builds a sense of teamwork. The exercises like stretches and light movements are done together, helping students connect and staying active.
We took a picture first for our documentation. Before we went to the Principal's office for our first meeting, she will be the one to where we would be assigned to a room, grade level, and mentor.
After our first meeting with the principal. The principal's assistant helped us by giving directions to the classrooms where we, the student teachers would be going in assigned room. And finally! I was assigned in Grade 3 Cucumber.
When I entered the classroom, I met my mentor, Ms. Rotchel who was very kind, even during our first meet. Afterward, I started introducing myself to the Grade 3 students. I felt a mix of nervousness and excitement during that day.
Since it was my first observation, I was both nervous and excited. The students were energetic and I could already see their unique personalities. Ms. Rotchel was patient and engaging, creating a warm atmosphere.
I also saw how she managed the class, keeping everyone focused while maintaining a positive tone. It was a valuable experience, and I looked forward to getting more involved in the days ahead.
Since it's their recess time, Jamaica is the one who assigned by the teacher selling the snacks to her classmates. She knows exactly what everyone wants like chips, junk foods and candy.

After their snack time, their next subject is Religion, which is led by a catechist named Mam Cathy. She always makes the lessons interesting and the students are excited to learn from her. Mam Cathy has a way of explaining things that makes it easy for everyone to understand and she encourages them to think about how they can apply what they learn in their daily lives.
In the afternoon my mentor asks me to have the students do reading comprehension exercises. At first, I was unsure how to help them understand the material but over time I developed a routine.
After they read I’d ask follow up questions to check their understanding and sometimes have them summarize the text. It was rewarding to see their comprehension improve and I noticed they became more confident in analyzing texts. This experience helped me grow as a teacher and strengthened the students' reading skills.
Since I had finished having the students read, my mentor assigned me to take some of the Grade 3 students to the principal's office especially those in the Feeding Program, to be weighed and have their height measured. I also helped my co-student teacher assist with the process making sure the students felt comfortable while waiting.
It was a smooth experience and I enjoyed working together with my co-student teacher to ensure everything went well. It felt good to be part of something that helped track the students' health and well-being.
During their free time they love to read. Sometimes they grab books or storybooks from the reading corner. I’ve noticed how excited they get about certain books, often sharing their favorite parts with each other.
A few of them often ask for my help in understanding certain words and I enjoy helping them out. It’s always a calm and enjoyable moment in class and I feel happy seeing them develop a love for reading.
It also encourages them to explore new stories and expand their imaginations. It’s a peaceful moment in class and I enjoy seeing them so focused on reading.
It’s 3:30 PM, and time for them to go home. Before they leave the cleaners for that day clean the classroom. Some students wipe the blackboard. While, others clean the window.
I help them by sweeping the floor and organizing the desks and making sure everything is in order. It feels good to leave the room tidy for the next day.
After cleaning the classroom it's time for the students to go home. It feels good to leave the room clean for the next day. Sometimes the students help too making it a team effort. It’s a nice way to end the day.
Afterward we, the student teachers go home as well. It’s a mix of tiredness and satisfaction. Sometimes, we talk about the day or share what we learned before heading home.
