May Edition of Chess960 Hive chess Tournament ♟🔥

If you’ve been following my posts in the Chess Community, you probably know I’ve had a bit of a beef with Chess960 😅. I’ve always found it chaotic and unpredictable — but that perspective changed yesterday.
The May Edition of the Hive Chess960 Tournament was 🔥, and to my surprise… 🥈 I finished in second place! Keylix was unmatched, finished 1st place with a pretty high point 🔥 .
🎯 A Risky Approach: Berserking 80% of My Games
I’ve been trying to step out of my comfort zone and play more aggressively lately. So yesterday, I decided to berserk in almost 80% of my games — and it paid off in most cases!
Sometimes, taking calculated risks and being spontaneous gets your adrenaline up this feels good😎. Still, not every gamble was successful, but it made the experience all the more intense and rewarding.
🕹️ Game Highlights
Here are a few notable moments from yesterday’s games:

The Knight to d4 Blunder
My opponent made a crucial mistake by playing Nd4, which gave me the perfect opportunity to swing my rook to f3 and capture his queen. That single moment shifted the entire game in my favor. That’s the beauty (and madness) of Chess960 — unfamiliar piece placement often leads to unexpected tactics.?theme=brown&piece=cburnett
⚔️ My Game vs. @stayoutoftherz
It’s becoming a pattern — I tend to blunder when playing against @stayoutoftherz 🥲. This match had its fair share of inaccuracies on both sides. One of my worst moves? ☠️ Rook from a8 to e8 — terrible positioning. His checkmate could’ve come much earlier if he’d played Qa8 instead of Qb8.?theme=brown&piece=cburnett
🧠 @Stranger27 Knight Blunder

One pivotal moment was when @stranger27 played Na6 instead of Bc1. That knight move exposed weak squares and completely blocked his own bishops movement. It’s a reminder that:
"Every piece placement matters — especially in 960."
🏆 Final Thoughts
Overall, the tournament was a blast. I genuinely had fun and learned a lot — especially about staying alert even when the board setup looks foreign. Chess960 might be growing on me after all… 👀
