According to Bro Eli's video here are the important points that was mentioned;

Mark 6:3 "Is this not the Carpenter, the son of Mary the brother of James and Jo'ses, and Ju"da, and Si'mon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

"Is this not the Carpenter? gave the believe that people that has familiarised with Jesus in the area were able to know and seen him as a Carpenter. He learnt this occupation from His foster father Joseph.

So yes by occupation He's regarded as a carpenter and when He started His ministry there was so much greater in Him to offer and manifest than just been a Carpenter.

Jesus was about thirty year old when He began His ministry.
