The Church of Jesus of Miramar is one of the largest in the Cuban capital. It is located on 5th Avenue, in the neighborhood of Miramar, one of the most elegant in Havana, where the Havana bourgeoisie of the first half of the 20th century built their houses and mansions.

Its architecture is grand, and the most distinctive feature is its large dome with the cross at the very top. Before the modern buildings that today surround it were constructed, the church was the only elevated point that stood out on the horizon. And currently, although the new hotels found in the surroundings compete with it in height, the church continues to be a point of reference. The contrast between the old and the modern becomes evident, but even so the Church of Jesus of Miramar does not lose prominence; on the contrary, its silhouette stands out even more, accentuating the contrast with the environment.

From any angle that we look at it, it is always seen behind the dome, with its cross that seems to touch the clouds, the sky as a backdrop. It does not need ornaments to stand out; it is enough to see how the light falls on its walls while in the background the sky always stands out with its different shades of blue to know that this temple is special. A place that provokes us to always lift our gaze toward the blue sky.

It is impossible not to admire it, and in doing so realize that its presence goes beyond the passage of time and the changes in the city, that this type of building always always preserves its greatness, and that they inspire us to change our gaze.

La Iglesia de Jesús de Miramar es una de las más grandes de la capital cubana. Se encuentra en la 5ta Avenida, en el barrio de Miramar, uno de los más elegantes de La Habana, donde la burguesía habanera de la primera mitad del siglo XX construyó sus casas y mansiones.

Su arquitectura es grandiosa y lo mas distintivo es su gran cúpula con la cruz en lo mas alto. Antes de que se construyeran los edificios modernos que hoy la rodean, la iglesia era el único punto elevado que destacaba en el horizonte. Y actualmente aunque los nuevos hoteles que se encuentran en los alrededores compiten con ella en altura, la iglesia sigue siendo un punto de referencia. El contraste entre lo antiguo y lo moderno se hace evidente, pero no por eso la iglesia de Jesus de Miramar pierde protagonismo, al contrario, su silueta destaca aun mas acentuando el contraste con el entorno.

Desde cualquier angulo que la miremos se ve siempre tras la cúpula, con su cruz que parece tocar las nubes, el cielo como telón de fondo. No necesita adornos para destacar, basta con ver cómo la luz cae sobre sus muros mientras al fondo siempre se destaca el cielo con sus diferentes tonos de azul para saber que este templo es especial. Un lugar que nos provoca levantar la mirada siempre hacia el cielo azul.

Es imposible no admirarla y al hacerlo darnos cuenta que su presencia va más allá del paso del tiempo y de los cambios en la ciudad, que este tipo de edificaciones siempre siempre conservan su grandeza, y que nos inspiran a cambiar nuestra mirada.
