Splinterlands is a complex game and it allows for various different cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various different rulesets applied and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because my opponent used Shock Trooper.

Quilliun Legionary is a earth monster that costs 8 mana. It starts with

. It learns
at level 2,
at levle 4, and
at level 6. I use this card from time to time, and I think its fairly decent at level 2 with thorns.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The ruleset this time is Silenced Archons and Even Stevens. This means that summoners don't give any abilities and only even mana monsters can be used. There is also 39 mana available, and I can use fire, earth, life, or death
.

I use Chuul Jujinchi for its +1 duo life and earth choices. Quilliun Legionary is my tank. Pallus is my backup tank with

and
. Then I have Nimbledook Explorer for the
ability. I have my melee damage dealers after this, and they have some good abilities to go along with them.

My plan is to use Chuul Jujinchi because of the silenced summoner ruleset. I don't get any extra abilities but it opens up my choices for the cards that I can use. With this, I was able to mix and match cards from both sets and build a solid lineup. The protect will help my monsters survive longer, and for the Thanalorian Blade or Olivia of the Brook to kill off monsters.

At first glance, I think that the match is my win. Although I am a bit worried about my opponents legendary monster, I don't think it's as big of a threat because my damage dealers can kill off my opponent's backline faster.

My opponent is down to 2 monsters while I have lost none. At this point, there is nothing my opponent can do given the damage advantage that I have. The thorns did a good job of damaging those melee monsters.

I ended up winning this match a few rounds later as I expected.

Conclusion

The battle this time played out as I expected. I was able to wipe out my opponent without any issues, and I was in no danger because of my protect ability. The thorns from Quilliun Legionary was quite useful as that damage did add up over time. My damage dealers in the back did most of the damage against the backline and reducing the damage that I would take.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
