Another Day of Firsts!

A new #TBT Thursday has arrived, and with it, many fond memories, like the ones I can relive through these photographs from the day I visited the National Center for Social Action through Music in Caracas. I don't have many photos from that day, just these few that I'm sharing with you today, which are from 2012, specifically from July. To give you some context, the place where we appear in these images is my workplace today, the main headquarters of the music system in Venezuela, where we rehearse daily and where the enormous and impressive Simón Bolívar Concert Hall is located, from which I've shared many photos and videos here on Hive.

Un nuevo Jueves de #TBT ha llegado, y con el muchos recuerdos gratos, como los que puedo revivir a través de estas fotografías del día que conocí el Centro Nacional de Acción Social por la Música en Caracas. No tengo muchas fotografías de ese día, solo estas pocas que les comparto hoy, que son del año 2012, específicamente del mes de Julio. Para que me entiendan un poco, el lugar donde aparecemos en estas imágenes es mi lugar de trabajo hoy en día, la sede principal de la música del sistema en Venezuela, donde ensayamos a diario y tenemos la enorme e imponente Sala de Conciertos Simón Bolívar, de donde he compartido muchas fotografías y videos aquí en Hive.

I never imagined that this place would become a second home for me during that time, and that I would be part of the national choir. At that time, I was only a member of the regional choir of Aragua State, and we traveled to Caracas to sing under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel, with whom we had already performed concerts, but at the Aula Magna of the Central University of Venezuela or the Teresa Carreño Theater, but not here. When I set foot in this place, it was like stepping onto sacred ground; everything captivated me at first sight: the large rehearsal rooms located throughout the building and the two grand concert halls, the Fedora Alemán Hall, where we met with singers from other states of the country, and the Simón Bolívar Hall, where we joined the orchestra for the concert.

Jamás imaginé que este lugar se convertiría en una segunda casa para mí en ese tiempo, y que sería parte de la coral nacional. En ese momento solo era miembro de la coral regional del Estado Aragua, y vivimos a Caracas para cantar dirigidos por Gustavo Dudamel, con quien ya habíamos tenido conciertos, pero en el Aula Magna de la Universidad Central de Venezuela o en el Teatro Teresa Carreño, pero no aquí. Cuando pisé este lugar fue como pisar tierra santa; todo me cautivo a primera vista, las grandes salas de ensayo que se pueden encontrar en diversos lugares del edificio y las dos salas grandes de concierto, la Fedora Alemán donde nos encontramos con cantantes de otros estados del país y la Simón Bolívar, donde nos unimos con la orquesta para el concierto.

Today I've taken over every corner of this place, and it makes me so happy that even though 13 years have passed since these photos were taken, I still feel the same emotion as the first time. For me, this venue is a privilege for musicians. The spaces are dignified and comfortable, and I've had wonderful musical experiences here. I'm so glad I haven't lost that spark, and I'm surprised to see that I'm the only one left from the people in these pictures, except for our director from Aragua, who is with me in the second image, and Maestro Gustavo Dudamel... I'm grateful to myself for having persevered in this world and for seeing how all those goals I set for myself back then have come true... That's the beauty of #TBTs.

Hoy me he apoderado de cada rincón de este lugar, y me da mucha alegría que aunque han pasado 13 años desde que se tomaron estas fotografías, sigo sintiendo la misma emoción que la primera vez. Para mí, la sede es un privilegio para los músicos. Son espacios dignos, cómodos y donde he vivido hermosas experiencias musicales. Me alegra mucho no perder esa chispa y me sorprende ver que soy el único sobreviviente de las personas que aparecen en estas imágenes, sacando a nuestra directora de Aragua que me acompaña en la segunda imagen y el Maestro Gustavo Dudamel... Agradecido conmigo mismo de haber insistido en este mundo y descubrir como se fueron haciendo realidad todas esas metas que me tracé entonces... Eso es lo hermoso de los #TBTs.
