Hello everyone at Hive, I hope you're all doing great today. This time I want to share a new review with this great community. I want to talk about the book: The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue... Where do I even start? Let's start with the main idea, because, honestly, it was what hooked me right away, and it's brutal. Imagine this: what would you be willing to give to be totally free, without limits? The chance to live forever, see the world, try everything without the typical ties? It sounds incredible, but here comes the catch, the price Addie pays: she’s cursed to be forgotten by EVERYONE she knows, the moment they turn around, boom!, she’s gone from their memory… this all starts in 18th century France, when Addie makes a semi-desperate pact with… let’s say, a rather ancient and dark being to escape a future she didn’t want at all – marriage, staying put, all that stuff, when all she asked for was more… it’s a super powerful starting point and one that leaves you thinking a lot… right off the bat, this isn’t your typical fantasy novel about casting spells and riding dragons, okay?

I mean, yeah, there’s magic, the pact is important, but the heart of this book… ugh, it beats with much deeper questions, really… it delves into what makes us who we are, that need we have to connect with people, the weight of loneliness –which can be terrifying– and what it really means to leave your mark on the world if no one can keep your memory. We follow Addie through this curse for 300 years, and seeing the story through her eyes, always on the outside looking in, makes you think a lot about how fragile memory is and the silent impact a life can have, even one that seems invisible.

Hola a todos, amigos de Hive, espero que esten genial hoy, en esta ocasión quiero compartir con esta gran comunidad, una nueva reseña, les quiero hablar del libro: La Vida Invisible de Addie LaRue... ¿Por dónde empiezo siquiera? Arranquemos por la idea principal, porque, la verdad, fue lo que me enganchó de una y es que es brutal, imagínense esto: ¿qué estarían dispuestos a dar por ser totalmente libres, sin límites? ¿La oportunidad de vivir para siempre, conocer el mundo, probarlo todo sin las típicas ataduras? Suena increíble, pero aquí viene el truco, el precio que paga Addie: está maldita a que TODO el mundo que conoce la olvide, en el momento en que se dan vuelta, ¡pum!, se esfuma de su memoria.. toda esto arranca en la Francia del siglo XVIII, cuando Addie hace un pacto medio desesperado con... digamos, un ser bastante antiguo y oscuro para zafar de un futuro que no quería para nada – matrimonio, quedarse quieta, toda esa onda, cuando ella lo único que pedía era más.. es un punto de partida súper potente y que te deja pensando un montón.. de entrada les digo, esta no es la típica novela de fantasía de tirar hechizos y montar dragones, ¿eh?

O sea, sí, hay magia, el pacto es importante, pero el corazón de este libro... uf, late con preguntas mucho más profundas, la verdad.. se mete de lleno en qué nos hace ser nosotros, esa necesidad que tenemos de conectar con gente, el peso de la soledad –que puede ser terrible– y qué significa realmente dejar tu huella en el mundo si nadie puede quedarse con tu recuerdo. Seguimos a Addie por 300 años con esta maldición, y ver la historia desde sus ojos, ella que siempre está como de afuera mirando, te hace pensar un montón sobre lo frágil que es la memoria y el impacto silencioso que puede tener una vida, incluso una que parece invisible.

Now, how is this written? Wow, people, it's beautiful. V.E. Schwab's writing style is super cute, very... lyrical, you know? Almost like poetry at times, she immerses herself in the characters. We spend a lot of time inside Addie's head, feeling what she feels, her thoughts, imagine, centuries of experiences... for that very reason, it's a rather profound read, one that leaves you thinking, half-philosophical at times. It takes its time, it lets you really immerse yourself in Addie's world and everything that happens to her, which is super unique... this means that the pace can feel slow, especially if you're expecting nonstop action... but, honestly, for me, that slower pace was necessary; it makes all the emotional weight of what Addie goes through really reach you, you know?

It invites you to think along with her, and I loved that... the structure helps a lot with that. The story jumps, in a super clever way, between Addie's present—which is mostly in New York, in 2014—and bits of her past, from the last 300 years... those glimpses of how she used to be are... wow, they really draw you in. You see her struggling with the curse at the beginning, seeing how to survive, how to endure, and most importantly, how she manages to leave like... little echoes of herself in the world, like whispers in art, in music. It's like you're putting together the puzzle of this secret, incredible story, bit by bit. Speaking of characters, Addie is... wow, phenomenal, seeing how she changes in three centuries, from being a scared, desperate girl to this super strong, unyielding, intelligent, and, yes, kind of rebellious woman... that's the heart of the story.

She learns to manage her curse, even to use it to her advantage at times, always fighting to not lose who she is, her humanity, despite feeling terribly alone... her strength is quiet, but gigantic, and then, in 2014, something impossible happens: she meets Henry Strauss, a boy who works in a small bookstore, and he... remembers her. The next day, he still remembers her! After 300 years, he is the first person who can... this, obviously, turns Addie's whole world upside down and introduces a huge mystery that hooks you: Why him? What is different about Henry? The connection between them becomes an emotional exploration of what it means when someone finally sees you after centuries of being invisible. It's tender, it's complicated, and, honestly, it's very beautiful to see how it all unfolds.

Ahora, ¿cómo está escrito esto? Uf, gente, es preciosa, la forma de escribir de V.E. Schwab es súper linda, como muy... lírica, ¿saben? Casi como poesía a ratos, se mete de lleno en los personajes, pasamos un montón de tiempo en la cabeza de Addie, sintiendo lo que ella siente, sus pensamientos, imagínense, siglos de vivencias.. por eso mismo, es una lectura más bien profunda, que te deja pensando, medio filosófica a veces. Se toma su tiempo, te deja como que te metas de verdad en el mundo de Addie y en todo lo que le pasa, que es súper particular.. esto significa que el ritmo puede sentirse lento, sobre todo si esperan pura acción sin parar.. pero, la verdad, para mí ese ritmo más tranqui era necesario; hace que todo el peso emocional de lo que vive Addie te llegue de verdad, ¿entienden?

Te invita a pensar junto con ella, y eso me encantó.. la estructura ayuda un montón con esto. La historia va saltando, de forma súper inteligente, entre el presente de Addie –que es más que nada en Nueva York, en 2014– y pedacitos de su pasado, de los últimos 300 años.. esos vistazos a cómo era antes son.. uff, te atrapan, la ves luchando al principio con la maldición, viendo cómo sobrevivir, cómo aguantar, y lo más importante, cómo se las ingenia para dejar como... pequeños ecos de ella en el mundo, como susurros en el arte, en la música. Es como si fueras armando el rompecabezas de esta historia secreta, increíble, pedacito a pedacito.. hablando de personajes, Addie es... wow, fenomenal, ver cómo cambia en tres siglos, de ser una chica asustada y desesperada a esta mujer súper fuerte, que no se rinde, inteligente y, sí, medio rebelde... eso es el corazón de la historia.

Aprende a manejar su maldición, hasta a usarla a su favor a veces, siempre peleando por no perder quién es, su humanidad, a pesar de sentirse terriblemente sola.. su fuerza es callada, pero gigante, y entonces, en 2014, pasa algo ¡imposible!: conoce a Henry Strauss, un chico que trabaja en una librería chiquita, y él… la recuerda. Al día siguiente, ¡todavía la recuerda! Después de 300 años, es la primera persona que puede.. esto, obviamente, le da vuelta todo el mundo a Addie y mete un misterio ¡enorme! que te engancha: ¿Por qué él? ¿Qué tiene Henry de distinto? La conexión entre ellos se vuelve una exploración emotiva de lo que significa que por fin alguien te vea después de siglos de ser invisible, es tierno, es complicado y, la verdad, es muy bonito ver cómo se va dando todo.

And of course, there’s Luc, this dark being that Addie made the deal with, ugh… ages ago… their relationship is… complicated is an understatement, it’s not your typical good versus evil, it’s like a dance they’ve been going on for centuries, a push and pull that keeps changing, getting deeper with time, and adds another interesting layer to the story. What really stuck to me, really, were those quieter moments of Addie searching for how to leave her mark, that incredible strength of the human spirit that she has, and that central question that haunts you about remembering versus forgetting… the historical parts were also great! Seeing different eras through her eyes, which is a super unique perspective.

Now, if I have to find a "but," just a tiny one, maybe... some parts in the middle felt a little repetitive, when they tell you about Addie's daily life with the curse, before the main plot takes off again... for me it wasn't a huge problem because I was super hooked, but I do understand that the pace might test some people's patience a bit. So, who is this book for? Who will love it? Look, I'm sure that for people who like stories that delve deeper into the characters, rather than the pure action of the plot, if you like beautiful writing, those environments that capture you, and books that make you feel things deep inside and leave you thinking about big themes like life, who you are, art... give it a chance, it's for readers who have no problem slowing down, enjoying the story calmly, like immersing themselves in it for a while... if you're looking for non-stop action or a more direct fantasy adventure, mmm, maybe this isn't the one for you.

The idea is brilliant, Addie is a character you won't forget, and the emotional depth is... tremendous, it's a story about loneliness and connection, about art and leaving a mark, and about those invisible threads that unite us. I give it 4.5/5 stars because, look, it's almost perfect for what it wants to be, but that little bit of slower middle part held it back from being a perfect 5 stars, for me, personally I highly recommend it if you're looking for something different... and well, that's all for today, I hope you liked it, see you in the next reviews, take care! Y obvio, está Luc, este ser oscuro con el que Addie hizo el trato hace ufff... un montón de años.. su relación es... complicada es quedarse corto, no es el típico bueno contra malo, es como un baile que llevan por siglos, un tire y afloje que va cambiando, se pone más profundo con el tiempo, y le suma otra capa interesante a la historia. Lo que más me pegó, la verdad, fueron esos momentos más tranquilos de Addie buscando cómo dejar su marquita, esa fuerza increíble del espíritu humano que ella tiene, y esa pregunta central que te persigue sobre recordar versus olvidar.. las partes históricas también estuvieron ¡geniales!, ver diferentes épocas a través de sus ojos, que es una mirada súper única. Ahora, si le tengo que buscar un 'pero', algo chiquitito nomás, quizáaaaas... algunas partes por la mitad se sintieron un poquito repetitivas, cuando te cuentan el día a día de Addie con la maldición, antes de que la trama principal agarre vuelo de nuevo.. para mí no fue un problemón porque estaba súper enganchado, pero sí entiendo que a algunos ese ritmo les pueda probar un poco la paciencia. Entonces, ¿para quién es este libro? ¿A quién le va a encantar?

Miren, seguro que a la gente que le gustan más las historias que se clavan en los personajes, más que en la pura acción de la trama, si te gusta la escritura bonita, esos ambientes que te atrapan, y los libros que te hacen sentir cosas bien adentro y te dejan pensando en temas grandes como la vida, quién eres, el arte.. dale una oportunidad, es para lectores que no tienen problema en bajar un cambio, disfrutar la historia tranqui, como meterse a vivir en ella un rato.. si andan buscando acción que no para o una aventura de fantasía más directa, mmm, capaz este no sea el indicado.

La idea es brillante, Addie es un personaje que no te olvidas más, y la profundidad emocional es... tremenda, es una historia sobre la soledad y la conexión, sobre el arte y dejar una huella, y sobre esos hilos invisibles que nos unen. Le doy 4.5/5 estrellas porque, miren, es casi perfecto para lo que quiere ser, pero esa partecita del medio un poco más lenta le frenó el 5 estrellas perfecto, para mí, personalmente se los súper recomiendo si andan buscando algo distinto.. y bueno, hasta aquí todo por hoy, espero que les haya gustado, nos veremos en las próximas reseñas, cuidense!
