New 40K Announced

I'm getting really tired of the Games Workshop business model of, "buy several expensive new books every few years," and the mess each new edition creates as it promises a streamlined system that never is really streamlined, followed by bloating supplements.

On the bright side, it does look like the legacy Space Marines might be getting some love instead of the Primaris insanity we've seen for a while now.

It also looks like the Tyrannids are getting new sculpts. I suppose they're also due for some love, but so are a lot of other old armies still using the first wave of plastic models.

They also say all units have new stats and point costs in a sweeping rebalancing effort. OK. We've heard that before. We'll see. And they're also completely abandoning the idea of force organization charts, which on one hand is a shame as it imposed some structure on the game, but on the other hand, the current edition basically offered ways around that restriction already.

On the first day of the new edition, the rules for every datasheet in 40k will be free to download, or available to buy as convenient and portable card decks. Even your faction and army rules now take up just a couple of pages.

Maybe GW will finally decide they're a model company instead of a book publisher, and make the rules free soon? I'm not holding my breath though.
