Good day, my dear Hivers!

Let me share with you the opening of the college fiesta at Cebu Roosevelt Memorial Colleges.

The parade started at 9 AM, and guess what? I was a bit late lining up with my departmentmates—but that’s okay because the attendance check-in actually started at the benches anyway.

I’m one of the time checkers for our department, and when I arrived at the complex, I passed by the front row benches only to realize that they were reserved for the regents and players! So, I turned around and headed to the second floor where there were also benches—perfect, because that’s where the non-players were seated. That’s where I sat together with the other psych students.

At every college fiesta opening, there are always balloons at the top, and when the emcee gives the signal, they all fall down to the floor, giving such a nice view—especially since we were sitting on the second floor and could clearly see it. They also had some spark-like effects, almost like fireworks, at the edge of the stage.

Also, one of the highlights is the “Mr. and Ms. Sports Icon 2025” for every sportsfest. The cheering during this part was so intense, especially from each course rooting for their department reps. And yes, after the walk segment for Mr. and Ms. Sports Icon per department, our psychology department’s female rep placed as 2nd runner-up—not bad!

After the winners were announced, the opening event officially ended.

In the afternoon, it was time for the basketball girls’ game.

Before, I could never watch or cheer during games even if I really wanted to attend—because I used to be a working student. But luckily, this time I finally got to watch and experience the moment!

One of the players from our department actually happens to be a close friend of mine, so we cheered so loud for her—she’s really fun to watch because she plays with energy! While watching them play, I felt like it was such a stress reliever. Their moves are so different from guys' basketball—like with the girls, it almost felt like they were cradling the ball because they don’t fight over it too aggressively.

And when it’s time to shoot, it’s quite rare for someone to actually score!

By the 4th quarter, the score was 26 to 18—haha! We were leading, of course, and we won that game!

And that’s a wrap for this post, my dear Hivers. Thank you for reading!
