Samhain is approaching, and there is less than a month left to decorate, especially since the village children will be visiting before the 20th, and they are quite eager.

I wasn't as bold as Gpt when I asked him to visualize our home (the image is taken from Google Street View), but I did tell the local children and teachers that we would be participating, as we do every year... by decorating our windows facing the street.

If the weather permits, I'll set up the candy table in the garden and wait for the kids to arrive... Without wanting to brag, it's a bit of a street attraction, and both the children and their parents appreciate it and let me know, which encourages me to continue.
And then, I admit, there's still a big kid inside me who loves to take advantage of this celebration to have as much fun as I can.

History and Traditions

On the sign on the left, it says: STOP / Deads inside... Who is this warning addressed to?
And do you know why the decorations and costumes are meant to be morbid?
According to tradition, it is to ward off evil and/or wandering spirits who seek to haunt the living, taking advantage of this night when the veil between the two worlds is at its thinnest.
Keep this in mind when choosing your costume...

Nous approchons de Samhain, il ne reste que moins d'un mois pour décorer, surtout que les enfants du village passeront avant le 20, les petits impatients :)

Je n'ai pas été aussi audacieux que Gpt quand je lui ai demandé de visualiser notre habitation (dont l'image est récupérée de google street view), mais j'ai quand même indiqué aux enfants et profs du coin que nous participerons, comme chaque année... En décorant nos fenêtres donnant sur la rue.

Si la météo le permet, je placerai la table à friandises dans le jardin, et attendrai les gamins en embuscade... Sans me vanter, c'est un peu l'attraction de la rue, et les enfant tout comme les accompagnants apprécient et me le font savoir, ce qui m'encourage à continuer.
Et puis, je l'avoue, j'ai toujours un grand gosse au fond de moi qui adore profiter de cette célébration pour s'amuser tant que je peux.

Et savez-vous pourquoi les décorations et déguisements se veulent morbides?
Pour, selon la tradition, détourner les esprits malins et/ou errants qui cherchent à hanter les vivants, profitant de cette nuit où le voile entre les deux mondes est le plus ténu.
