Here is the last Saturday of 2024. Tom the Cat is seeing off the outgoing year and is looking forward to spring and hot summer.

Tom the cat's December walks are not long or varied: he quickly runs through his cat's business and returns to a warm house; on particularly frosty days he can wrap himself in a blanket and watch summer dreams.

Houseplants serve as weak substitutes for Tom the cat's summer adventures in the garden, because butterflies do not land on them, and there are no birds in the apartment. The only thing the cat can do is sit by the coffee machine, among the rare branches of a Chinese rose, imagining how it will sit in ambush somewhere in a tall tree in the summer.

But life goes on, the New Year is coming, and then in two months it will be spring and the cat’s life will be filled with new adventures.
