Celebrating the patron saint of my city. + Video | [ENG/ESP]

Hello everyone, I don't normally go out, but this June marks the day of the city's patron saint, Saint John the Baptist. So every year, to commemorate that, here where I live, San Juan de los Morros, the traditional fairs are held. They last a week and include various celebrations, from the so-called sound cars, the election of the queen, and the grand closing, which is a dawn llanero (plains sunrise). As I said, I haven't been able to attend these, but I got to see a lot of it due to my previous job. But right around this time, on June 24th, the parade and dance of Saint John the Baptist takes place down the city's main street.
Hola a todos, normalmente no soy de salir, pero en este mes de junio se celebra el día del santo patrono de la ciudad, que es San Juan Bautista, por lo que cada año, para conmemorar eso, acá en donde vivo, San Juan de los Morros, se realizan las tradicionales ferias con una duración de 1 semana donde se van haciendo diversas celebraciones, desde los llamados sound cars, elección de la reina y el gran cierre, el cual es un amanecer llanero, y es que, como dije, no he llegado a asistir a estas, pero llegué a ver mucho de esto por temas de mi anterior trabajo. Pero justamente entre estos días, el 24 de junio, se hace el recorrido y baile de san Juan Bautista por toda la calle principal de la ciudad.
For this first occasion, we took advantage of my mom's work-related needs, so my brother and I grouped up and headed to one of my city's plazas called "Los Samanes," where various congregations, dance groups, and cultural groups from all over the city would gather to take part in this unusual tour. Each of these groups brought along a version of Saint John the Baptist in various sizes, including a very large one, the main one belonging to the main church here.
Para esta primera ocasión aprovechamos que mi mamá tenía que ir por temas de trabajo, por lo que nos agrupamos con mi hermano y nos dirigimos a una de las plazas de mi ciudad llamada "Los Samanes", en donde se irían reuniendo diferentes congregaciones y agrupaciones de bailes y culturales de toda la ciudad que formarían parte de lo que sería este curioso recorrido; así mismo, cada uno de estos traía consigo una versión del San Juan Bautista en diversos tamaños, incluido uno muy grande, siendo el principal y el perteneciente a la iglesia central de acá.
I could say that there were more than 10 representations of the saint and all of these had to be grouped together before 6 in the afternoon, which was the starting time of the tour, which had to be along the entire Bolívar Avenue to Bolívar Square, this being the main square in the city and where the San Juan Bautista church is located and the monument called by the inhabitants "Sanjuanote", which is 19.2 meters high, made entirely of concrete and built in 1993 by General Juan Vicente Gómez as a gift to the city.
Podría decir que había más de 10 representaciones del santo y todas estas debían ir agrupándose antes de las 6 de la tarde, que era la hora de partida del recorrido, el cual debía de ser por toda la avenida Bolívar hasta la plaza Bolívar, siendo esta la principal de la ciudad y donde se encuentra la iglesia San Juan Bautista y el monumento llamado por los habitantes "Sanjuanote", que cuenta con 19.2 metros de altura, hecho totalmente de concreto y construido en 1993 por el general Juan Vicente Gómez como regalo para la ciudad.
Something I have to say is that for this, almost automatically, as soon as I grabbed the phone to record, it made me remember when I worked on the channel, so with my tripod I was getting a little between the whole route, even feeling excited both to see this and to capture everything, likewise with respect to this, once they were positioned in their places, a previous dance began by the person in charge where each person danced to their saint in a happy way and from there the route started where we could see how they interspersed between several people to dance the main saint from back to front to the beat of the drums and the most well-known songs towards thesaint, which was happy, while it was a back and forth of movements to the main saint.
Algo que tengo que decir es que para esto, casi que en automático, apenas agarre el teléfono para grabar, me hizo recordar cuando trabajé en el canal, por lo que con mi trípode estuve metiéndome un poco entre todo el recorrido, sintiendo incluso emoción tanto de ver esto como de capturar todo, así mismo con respecto a este, una vez se posicionaron en sus lugares, se comenzó por parte del encargado un baile previo donde cada persona bailaba a su santo de manera alegre y de allí arrancó el recorrido donde podíamos ver cómo se intercalaban entre varias personas para bailar el santo principal de atrás hacia adelante al compás de los tambores y cantos más conocidos hacia el santo, lo cual era alegre, mientras era un vaivén de movimientos de ida y venida al santo principal.
This tour lasted a little over two hours until we reached the main square, where there were also several artisans and different displays of the city's folklore. Arriving there, we were in front of the church with a lively dance where they debated whether or not the saint wanted to enter, and while all the congregations also performed ceremonial dances, the saint entered after about 15 minutes. After that, there was a mass and blessing, which we weren't there for, as well as a large stage for a concert in his honor. But by this time, we were already on our way home because of the late hour.
Este recorrido duró poco más de 2 horas hasta que se llegó a la plaza principal, donde también había varios artesanos y diferentes exhibiciones del folklore de la ciudad. Llegando allí, estuvo en frente de la iglesia con un baile alegre donde decían si quería o no entrar el santo, y mientras todas las congregaciones también hacían danzas ceremoniales, entrando el santo luego de alrededor de 15 min. Luego de allí procedía una misa y bendición, para la cual ya no estuvimos, así como una gran tarima para un concierto en su honor, pero para esto ya estábamos de camino a casa por lo tarde de la hora.
