Before & After

Hello #hive,

Here is the last part of the construction of the airstrip in Ronda, Cebu, Philippines.

Feel free to check

,
and
.

A few days ago, I posted

, which showcased the progress of the construction from June 12th to July 14th.

Here's where we stood:

  • The walls of the hangar were completed
  • The painting inside and outside was almost finished
  • The windows were installed
  • The shutter was installed
  • The concreting of the municipal road was ongoing

Let's resume the work

July 19th, 2018

The work on the septic tank had started, the tiling was ongoing, the doors were being installed and the spandrels were all in place.

The runway was a bit damaged due to the heavy rain in the previous days and because of vehicles using it as a replacement for the main road which was being concreted.

The tiling was almost complete. The painting of the outside walls was almost done and the runway as well as the portion from the runway to the entrance of the hangar was cleaned up.

The runway was blocked to prevent vehicles from passing on it and damaging it.

August 2nd, 2018

The downspouts were being installed. The outside wall painting was completed. The grills on the windows were put in place. The tiling was done, including in the restroom and the electricity was being taken care of.

As you can see, I had already moved the gyrocopter inside. On July 26th, I flew it from its storage space to the airstrip. This was the first landing ever on the runway. It was better being stored indoor and away from the elements which it had been subjected to for more almost 11 months.

The municipal road was getting near completion.

Construction is over

This is when I stopped documenting the progress. From then on, the workers were busy completing the finishings and removing all the rubble and debris.

The whole construction lasted about 4 and half months which I think is pretty good. @discoveringarni and I were very happy with the results.

That was it, we were the proud owners of Three Thirty Airstrip, our own private airstrip with a runway and a hangar.

This was about 2 years ago so now things have changed a bit, here's a picture taken on July 13th 2020:

You may be wondering why Three Thirty Airstrip!? Well, we were not very original in naming the place. The runway is about 330m long and so that's where it got its name, nothing fancy and no great story behind it. 🙂

Thank you very much for following the whole process from the time we were kicked out of a rented hangar space until we owned our own private airstrip.

See you again soon for more flying this time.
