Greetings to all chess fans and the Midnight Letters community! The 22nd round of the Hivechess Season 1 just finished and I'm writing my report immediately after the tournament. The Hivechess tournament is a weekly chess Arena blitz tournament which ran for over an hour. It starts at eleven pm our time and ends at midnight. The time control for this round was five minute blitz with an option to go on "berserk". Going berserk will give you half the time (two and a half minute) but will give you an extra point if you win.

I placed lower in the rankings today, only managing 13th place. Most of my games were played in berserk mode and I lost a lot of them to lower rated players. I only won five games all on berserk. The games were all exciting but some of them I lost on time against faster opponents. I placed badly this time but I still had fun playing.

There were tactical positions that I would include in this post. It was satisfying to find them over the board when I recognized the winning patterns.

White to move and mate in 2.

This one was easy to spot. We were racing against the clock when I found the mating pattern.

White to move and mate in 2 (Legal's Mate Pattern)

The position is not exactly Legal's Mate pattern but similar to it. I'm familiar with Legal's mate so the mating net was easy to spot.

My ranking in this round is leaves much to be desired but the games were fun as I tried to beat the clock as well as my opponent. I lost most of the games but it just means that I have to practice more to be faster and more accurate next time.

Thanks to @sam.chess @samostically for hosting and congratulations to the winners!
