Back back then in secondary school, there was always a unique way to depict the student of a particular School either by the way they are disciplined, they are dressing, and punctuality. The question of what was unique about my secondary school is numerous in the sense that, girls Catholic School in the 2000s was known for it disciplinary action, educational prowess, punctuality and so many more.

A brief introduction about my secondary school, I attended a Catholic girls secondary school which comprised of both boarding house students and day students. It was a purely Girls School that had classes from Jss1 to 3 and SS1 to 3. My school was known because of their success rate in the Educational aspect and their sporting activity. We were always known to take either the first, 2nd or third position whenever we visit other school competitions for races, debates, quizzes, March past and so on.

Another unique thing about my school aside from education and sport activities, we were known for our neat uniforms and the stylish ways we personalized them. I remember back then in the boarding house, we did not have the Liberty to use an electric pressing iron to straighten our uniforms but we devised another means to ensure that our uniforms were neat and clean. This method involved folding our uniforms also called pinafore properly and placing them underneath our mattresses, when we sleep on it overnight, this would ensure that the gators are pronounced giving it an ironed look.

Another unique culture we always look forward to as boarding house students, was the visiting days which was always on the last Saturday of the month. When we are in school, the only time we have holidays is during the midterm which is very short and the long holidays before the next term. In other words, we have like 3 to 4 months to stay in school before the holidays. In others to contain this, the visiting day came up as a means for parents or guardians to visit their child or wards by bringing home cooked meals and provisions. It is a day we always look forward to and it has become a unique culture for students to anticipate their parents or friends during this day.

In conclusion, we had other unique cultures one that I am very nostalgic about, such as the morning assembly, the morning masses, prep, breakfast lunch and dinners, Saturday labour, Senior vs Junior Student Culture, siesta and so on. It was definitely an interesting time.
