After the storm

Hello friends,

I went out for a walk on the beach tonight. I spent my whole day inside and behind the computer so a bit of fresh air and a little walk does me good. It was not a long walk, just 5300 steps according to Actifit but it was nice in the wind.

Speaking of wind, the last couple of weeks the weather here in the south of Spain is very bad. A couple of storms hit the peninsula and yet another on is coming this weekend. And in an area that is fill of greenhouses all made out of plastic, is nit a really good combination. A couple of greenhouses already lost a lot of plastic by the wind and that stuff needs to go somewhere.

It eventually ends up on the beach. The plastic is blown in to the ramblas and from there the rain water is transporting it in to the sea. Of course a lot of plastic will been blown in the sea directly but the point I wan to make is that eventually it will end up the beach... And I was walking there.

It almost looks surreal. There is so much plastic on the beach, it's almost like an apocalypses. But it is reality. They have a nickname for the greenhouse areal here. They call it "the sea of plastic", because the greenhouse area is huge, even visible from space. But now it's the sea full of plastic...

And this is what you see on the beach. There has to be so much more in the water right now.

It is not only greenhouse plastic, but the majority is. That is the price we pay for having all kinds of vegetables in winter. I know they clean up beaches here but I think they do that more often in the summer when people want to relax on the beach. Next to kite surfers and dog walkers, there is hardly any body on the beach.

And the wind has got some other advantages too. people are enjoying it very much. This beach is a very popular beach for kite surfers. And tonight there were many of them around.

The sunset was not very spectacular but a couple of clouds got light up a bit. That was a cool background for those kite surfers.

There were so many kites, At some point at least 15 of them.
