Nintendo Switch: Christmas Gift to Myself
5 comments

Okay, I know, I've owned multiple Switches before, but those were all acquired on the intention of reselling or trading (besides my first one which was given to me by my sister from another mother).
But this time it's a bit different.
For just R$800 ($147USD) I had gotten my hands on a mini PC. It was quite decent, with a Ryzen APU, 16GBs of RAM and an NVMe SSD... But I wasn't really using it.
And I thought "I'm going to travel during the New Year's, I need to something to stay entertained"
And that's when I saw this Switch. I sold the mini PC for R$1300 and bought this. I could've gotten even more out of that mini PC but this was enough.

The seller told me the story behind this particular Switch. Apparently his family was living in Germany and so he bought it there to have something to play. But he ended up playing way more on the laptop he bought there.
Back in Brazil, 2 years after purchasing the system, he decided to sell it. And yeah, I believe him, this thing is in pristine condition.
He told me he had a 128GB SD card to go with it, but when he got here we tried it out and it's apparently either fully corrupted and borked, or it's a fake. Either way, I bought a 128GB on the same day (which I now regret, because I'll definitely be needing more).

So What Have I Been Playing?
Lots of Mario Kart 8, Persona 5 Royal and Smash Bros.
Then I got the indies, Risk of Rain 2, Balatro, Vampire Survivors.
Then I got the classics, Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, DOOM 1+2, the Nintendo Switch Online games (Unfortunately my family group doesn't have the expansion pack but it's more than good enough.)
And of course...

THE GOAT, ANIMAL CROSSING.
I absolutely adore Animal Crossing, ever since 動物の森 on the N64 and Gamecube. New Horizons isn't as expressive as the other games when it comes to the characters themselves, but it sure as hell has a lot to do and I never mind starting over to see what I'll do with my island this time.
I'm already on day 2 of my new island life and have the museum tent, tomorrow it'll be ready hehe.

My Second Controller
Back when I owned my first Switch, I used the joycons for everything, I thought they were okay. But now I'm using the GameSir Nova Lite I bought a couple years ago and oh my God... Having a proper dpad and a controller that fits my hands is a godsend.
I can do all the motions necessary to play Street Fighter without fighting the buttons. I can play Persona 5 as if I were on a real console and not a fisher price toy, Mario Kart 8 is a lot more accurate and fun on these hall effect sticks too.
Sure, I'll use the joycons on handheld mode, but I'm kinda forced to. They're good enough for that but on TV? GameSir all the way.

Minecraft Dungeons with my lil bro
So, what else for the Switch?
Next year I wanna buy a 256 or 512GB SD card, and a bunch of indies.
For now my next goal is Yakuza Kiwami.
Y'all know Yakuza had to be here somewhere, but yeah, I'll be getting Yakuza for the Switch 1 and will definitely beat it all over again.
Either way, I'm already having fun, and I'm sure that I'll have even more fun with my cousins on the Airbnb we're renting for New Year's.
I can't wait to travel and bring the Switch with me. There's so much Mario Karting and Street Fighting to do.
Thanks for reading!
