Hello Hive!
A blessed new week to you all dear creators. Let this new week be filled with much excitement and productivity.
Talking about being excited, it is my current feeling, you know that proud feeling you get when you see yourself or a loved one progress or in my case hit a first milestone, last week Thursday happened to be a special day in our calendar, it was my daughter's very first graduation, from nursery to primary school, this little moment in this big life feels so huge in our little hearts. It is the most joyous event of her life which signifies growth and accomplishments, I felt very happy like it was my first graduation again, I still have the pictures of my first graduation, and being opportune to celebrate my daughter's own, makes me feel very emotional about this moment.

To celebrate this day, her school sent messages to the parents of the graduands about the dress code of the day, while the boys were asked to put on a yellow shirt, black trousers, and waistcoat, the girls were to be adorned in a yellow ball gown. Yellow has always been her favorite color, the color of the sun, happiness, start of something new. As if it symbolized her future it appeared at the right time. I was very happy because I knew I could handle this, and not just about making the dress, I had to make it extra special, as she is my princess and deserves to be dressed as one, though I had less than two weeks, and even more a tight schedule at work, I was determined to make it happen, the graduand, my daughter even assisted me in making her dress, you should see how invested she was in the making process, and even suggested how she wanted it, as long as it was ok, we brought it to life,

I didn't have any yellow materials at home, so I knew I was in for a lot of buying, selecting the fabric was our first adventure together, and it was kind of hectic sourcing for the right fabric, I knew it had to be a lace fabric and considering the economic state of my country right now, it was too expensive, and some were not even quality material, not until I found the flowery lace fabric with soft shiny sequin on it that caught my attention,

it was cute, it also complemented her skin tone, and surprisingly affordable, so I didn't waste time to pay for it as I got other materials as well, which included:
- yellow Satin
- Yellow tulle
- yellow Zipper
- Eyelets, etc
Cutting and Sewing Process

- I started by drafting the front patterns and transferring them to the fabric, the satin fabric was used as the base of the lace fabric, looking at how I placed the lace fabric on it, you would see the reason I chose this flowery lace, as it extended beyond her waist.

- I also drafted the back pattern, it has a two-in-one effect, a zipper on the tulle, and also eyelets on the lacy part

- Here I joined and turned the pattern with its lining side

- Continuing, I cut out the tulle to her length, and also a satin flared base

- Next, I gathered the tulle on the satin fabric, before joining it to the upper part of the dress

- For the sleeves, I drafted a basic sleeve and used the lace selvage as its hem.

The day she fitted the dress, you should see how she twirled and laughed in excitement feeling like the princess she is, that she couldn't wait for the D-day of the graduation to arrive, Seeing her joy made everything worthwhile.
The Big Day

This morning, as I helped her into the dress, I was overcome with emotion. My little girl, who seems to have grown up in the blink of an eye, stood before me looking so grown-up and beautiful. The yellow gown, shimmering in the morning light, seemed to glow with all the love and care that had gone into its creation.

As we arrived at the school, I watched her join her classmates, all dressed up for their special day as her class teacher adorned her with her graduate sash, she was complimented while she blushed right when we walked in through the school gate till she sat among her fellow graduands. Words cannot express the feelings of thankfulness that I have for being able to be here and see this day.

To my darling daughter, as you step into this new chapter of your life, know that I will always be here, ready to create more dresses, more memories, and more moments of joy with you. Your journey is just beginning, and I can't wait to see where it takes you. Greater heights I pray.
