Why Are We Talking About S...M on Hive?
As I was doing my rounds of manual curation in what should have been this morning but turned out to be quite in the afternoon, I noticed not one but three posts of known authors on Hive talking about the legacy chain.
They weren't talking in good terms, as anyone who knows the history could imagine, but why do it at all? Any publicity is good publicity, marketers say. That includes negative publicity.
At this point in time, we might be the only ones talking about them or what happens over there, particularly nothing or bad things. I might be wrong, I didn't bother checking.
Are we talking for the benefit of our community here? If users are so new that they don't know the history that's been reminded every once in a while, and they are attracted by the price manipulations going on over there, maybe they should go... I would advise against that, but who am I?
If we are talking for the outside world, to keep them from doing some horrible mistakes like investing their hard earned money there, or to see the difference between a viable and actively developed protocol and projects and engaging community like Hive, on one side, and abandoned ones, on the other, will they listen? Or will they think we're just attacking the competition, which validates them, and it definitely shouldn't. There is no competition to validate or invalidate.
Personally, I won't even give them the satisfaction of seeing their hijacked name immutably imprinted on our chain post-split by me. I often make free publicity by writing about new things that are launched on Hive and even elsewhere. But never consciously for something connected to JS.
I guess this was shorter than I imagined it would be. Not as easy to write about something without directly referring to it or the particular situation. Anyway, if you are curious what this is about, you can easily find that out. I won't touch that chain again, even if their governance token goes to 100$. What governance? Lol!

It's a good way to pick what interests you.
