My Teenage Crazy Moment

Teenage years and time can be funny. I think there's a spirit behind that period that will always push one to do some crazy things, the unimaginable. I won't forget this crazy thing I did back in my final year in secondary school.

You know some students are teachers' favorites, and some are known for their truancy. Some are just there. In all these categories I mentioned, I belonged to being all teachers' favorite, including the principal, because I was a very calm student, intelligent, neat, with good handwriting, coupled with the fact that my parents are teachers too.

But something came upon me that I'll never forget, how everyone was disappointed when they saw me in their midst. In my school, if any student is found outside the school premises before closing time, it is suspension with a serious punishment. I was suspended for a plate of rice😁 Was it not crazy?

There was a naming ceremony in my friend's compound, which she told us in school,wait, this naming was going to be held around 4pm but we couldn't wait because the rice could finish🤣and the six of us made an arrangement to leave the school so that we could meet up on time. On our way disappearing from school, we took a jungle path, and I did that for the first time in life. We passed through the bush to the outside of the school gate.

As we were going, a teacher saw me and called me back, but I refused. Somebody said, "Let's go, don't answer," and the naive me refused to answer until we met the principal's car and some teachers. The principal gave us the order to go back to school immediately, and we all responded, "Yes, ma," but did we go back? We turned back to go our way immediately the car left our sight. We didn't know the aftermath was going to be tougher. We went to eat rice and disobeyed the school rules. The next day, we were called on the Assembly ground.

Did I tell you we were six in number, and four of us were school prefects? See disappointment on every teachers faces as I was called🤔 We were given 12 strokes of cane, and we were told to invite our parents for our suspension letter. And you know what? Our final exam (WAEC) was just a month away.

I cried and regretted my actions, but it was too late to feel bad. How do I tell my parents what I did that led to my suspension was another big issue. I later called one of Mum's friends to help me out, and she did. My parents refused, but Mom later agreed. I was pardoned but had to cut a palm kernel tree for good two weeks. It was so terrible!

Every day, I'm outside under the sun looking for a way out. You see me; I hate anything agric. My hands suffered, my skin suffered because of many ant bites. Will I ever try that again? Not in my next life. It was the craziest thing I did as a teenager.
