Diagnostic Exam and Majorship Lecture
8 comments
I have been busy these weekdays because of the events that I must attend and preferably those are school related requirements.
I really intended to write articles every other day, but because I was a bit busy with other things, I didn't do it.
This Monday we had a Diagnostic Test/Exam in our course subject entitled Competency Based course. That diagnostic exam was taken from questions that could be in the LET or Licensure Examination for Teachers. I think others already know about LET, especially the teachers who are here at Hive and of course others also probably have an idea of what it is about. The Dean of our college decided for us to take that exam and he also required that we should pass the test because that is the final requirement for him before we graduate.
For those who don't know and didn't read my introductory post, I'm an Education student and I'm in my 4th year now and I'm close to the reality of my dreams.
Schedule for Monday and Tuesday Exam and Lecture
Anyway let's get back to the topic, the diagnostic exam consists of 3 parts, the first is General Education, the second is Professional Education and the last is the Majorship. General Education and Professional Education consist of one hundred (100) questions each and the Majorship exam has 200 questions. We took all those exams in just one day, Monday, March 6, 2023.
We were given a few days to review, I think it was about five days. But I feel that the 5 day review was insufficient because there was too much to review. Because just the general education have already 10 subjects included there and you need to review those because based on the discussion and instructions to us, the questions in the exam really come from there. Professional education also has 10 subjects included and all of those also needed to be reviewed. So with just those two, you really need to study again or review a lot and add to that is the Majorship exam. By the way, my major is TLE and the scope of TLE is very wide, so that's another one that needs to be reviewed, there are 12 subjects included. So those 5 days are really not enough for reviewing.
Scope of the examination
Apart from what my classmates who were recommend and give reviewers, I also searched for my own. I saw a lot of reviewers on the internet but I just chose the ones I think are reliable. Actually, with the number of reviewers I have, I didn't open the rest of them, the others I just passed them through reading and the ones I thought were the most important is what I wrote on the paper.
As much as I reviewed, most of the items on the exams are not seen on the reviewers. Well I think it's really like that especially it's a LET and I know the questions that will be put there are really different and difficult. And especially the Majorship exam, we didn't study most of it before.
We don't know the results or the outcome of the exams yet and maybe this coming Monday or this coming week we will know that but I already have presumption on mine hahaha. The questions there are really difficult and even if you review, you won't be able to see the ones you reviewed in the exam. So you will just answer the exam with your prior knowledge.
And on Tuesday we had the Majorship Lecture. The lecturer rationalized the Majorship exam questions. The lecturer really dissected the questions in the exam and explained one by one, which is an advantage for us because we didn't study most of the exam. We were at school all day on Tuesday, so I didn't really have time to write an article.
But anyway, I learned a lot from our Majorship Lecture and I am thankful because we had such an opportunity and take notes for the preparation of Board exam and that session was free. Because our Dean partnered with that Review Center which is CBRC or Carl Balita Review Center. And I think that CBRC is also the Review Center I will choose when I need someone to review for the Board Exam.
And just yesterday, Friday, we had an orientation for our Teaching Internship. That's why I've been really busy this week. So this is the only time I can publish an article again.
And that's all for today. Thank you very much for taking the time to this article of mine. See you on my next article. Adios!
