My Table: My Business

I would like to share with you the table manners that I always remind my niece and nephew of, and that I will also impart to my future children if I have any (No one knows the future yet). I'm not referring to table manners regarding food, but rather manners with respect to actual tables. I always remind them not to touch other people's tables, "That there own table is their business." Another manner that I find particularly bothersome is when people interfere with my table or desk. I may sometimes choose to stay silent and ignore the situation, but there will come a point where I can no longer control my reactions. People need to understand that our phones and tables/desks are personal and private possessions.

During most weekends, my sisters come home for family lunch. There was a time when one of my sisters would just come into my room and look around, even when I was in the room and using my table for grinding stuff or watching movies. They would enter as if no one was there (my eyes rolled up yet nothing seem effective). Although they don't open anything, just the act of looking around and examining things with a detective's eye makes me feel uncomfortable.

I don't know how to tell my mother to please do not interfere with my table. Even though I remain silent when I see it rearranged and I knew it was her, it just doesn't feel like it's mine anymore. I have a messy table, but it provides a better environment for me to think and do my work. Maybe it's just an abnormality in me, but a messy table helps me to focus better as I know where everything is and I don't have to think too hard to find what I need. I can just reach out and grab what I need using my long shoulder and hands more convenient right?

Just like my messy handwriting, some people question if I can make it more pleasing to the eye. Despite the confusion it may cause, it actually gives me more time to think and focus on my work. I don't care about the appearance of my handwriting, only what I hear from discussions comes to my ears and goes out to the movement of my hands.

That's always been a problem. People think that if you have a messy table or messy handwriting, it means your life is also messy. I want to embrace my uniqueness and not conform to others who can work at a neatly arranged desk full of organized items. I sometimes want to speak up, but I choose to remain silent and smile, striving to become stronger and more patient, focusing on personal growth rather than material possessions.

We must remember that what is on someone else's table is not our concern. We are not the owner, so it's not our responsibility if anything is lost or misplaced. Sometimes, trying to do good for others can actually lead to negative consequences. This is why I don't worry about other table.

When I was in elementary school, a teacher asked me to look at her desk, but I couldn't see anything. She became angry and called me dumb. This experience is one of the reasons why I dislike the kind of education I received as a child. Teachers especially public school often treated their pupils as slaves and there was little that could be done about it.

At times, people were wrongly accused of stealing from a teacher's desk just because they were the last ones seen nearby. Thanks to technology and the widespread use of CCTV cameras, these incidents are less common now. But during my time, such false accusations and the resulting public humiliations in front of classmates.

I don't like others meddling with my table, except for my mother of course, who brings me what I need when I ask. I also respect others' tables, regardless of how messy they may be, because I understand how it feels to have others interfere with personal things. People should be able to work in their own way and have their own space right?

Do you also had messy table or handwriting like me? Lol.
