The reason I love to visit exhibitions is that I can see what talented minds create and also, because I can learn from it. I'm not saying I'm going to paint starting from tomorrow because I've visited so many exhibitions, for that I would need a good amount of talent, which i don't have, but there are areas where i can improve my skills and be better.

Learn from The Best.jpg

One of such area is photography and I'm always glad to have at least one photography exhibition to visit for free each month. Some are just from the local photo club, while others are from all over the world, but I can assure you, all are exceptional.

Today I'd like to show you the rest of the photos I took at the last exhibition, where some of the exhibited photos were award winning ones.

István Magdó - Borsszem Jankó

Jankó Borsszem was a political paper, which appeared in Budapest between 1868 and 1938. Its target audience was primarily the city bourgeoisie, especially the Jews of Pest. Among the edge pages of the era, he achieved the greatest success with the number of copies of two thousand, which sometimes even increased from this. [

At first glance I didn't understand what I was looking at, but looking at it better, you can see the cows and the kid as well are knee deep in snow. Borsszem Jankó, the name suggest a smaller person and fits this happy kid perfectly. The several size bigger vest shows he's not quite fit for this job yet. It's a really good photo.

Lajos L. Lőrincz - The Tree Of Fatia Negra

This photo got silver medal in "The life and work of Mór Jókai" category.

It's not the first time when I see artworks dedicated to personalities, like writers, poets, or other artists. Fatia Negra (Black Face) is a character in one of the Mór Jókai's novels, called Szegény gazdagok (Poor Rich People). I love these challenges, where artist are dedicating one of their work to a well known personality, but this photos of this tree is a bit strange.

István Vass - Twilight on the Black Sea

Special mention in one of the youth category, age between 15 and 21. It's a nice photo, but for me, sunset and twilight photos are a bit overrated. However, congrats to the photographer as it's a huge achievement at such a young age.

Hajnalka Kértész - Time Traveling

Virág Vanek - Life in a Bomb Hopper

Gold medal in "Photos made with an archaic process".

I must confess, I keep seeing photos made with this process, but know nothing about it. I keep telling myself each time that I go hope and look it up and here I am, still never done it.

If you want to know what a fantastic photo looks like, this is one. Unfortunately some labels were still waiting to get their final place, so we don't know who was the amazing photographer, but even without a name, we can agree that you have only a couple of chance in life, to capture such a scene.

Attila Kovács - Splashing

Bronze medal in the youth category, age between 15 and 21. It's a good photo for sure.

Hajnalka Pataki - Balerina

When I first looked at this photo, the first word that came into my mind was dance. I'm not exactly sure what these birds were doing there, maybe socializing, I hope they were not fighting, but if you have ever seen two such birds, interacting with each other, sometimes they look like dancing.

Anyway, look at those colors. I love the light golden tone, it's perfect for this photo and way better than a blue background would be. This photo was awarded bronze medal in the General category.
