'As Yet Untitled' - A Space Saga Part 1

Chapter One
Xethrom
Space is vast. From one individual's vantage point on a single planet, the sky seems to be positively teeming with stars, but up there? It's so much….emptiness. I know this well, I've been traveling the cosmos for decades. But Space never seems so empty as it does on an empty stomach.
You see, I have been made the victim of a very deliberate stock taking ‘fumble’. This journey was originally intended not for me but for a colleague roughly 20% my size with an appetite to match. I am now halfway between stops with nothing but memories to make up my next meal.
How do I know this miscalculation was deliberate? My lifelong nemesis, Jael, positively beamed at me as I was boarding and made several quips about how ‘starved’ we are for information from this star system and how my ‘hunger for knowledge’ would serve me in good stead on the trip. That prick.
And so I am faced with a decision: turn around, tail between my legs and hope I get back before my body digests itself or stop at one of the primitive flyover planets unfit for membership in the Universal Union.
I lack the constitution for dignified starvation. The choice has made itself.

What's this, a new series? It looks so 😀! If you are one of the maybe 3 people that sampled my last series, The Chronicles of Gin, you might be wondering what happened to the sequel. It exists. Its 99% complete right now, but Gin never really took off here so I'll probably keep Uggs off the blockchain in the event that I one day want it to be eligible for Kindle Unlimited. I think that's how it works at least 🤷🏾♀️.
In any event, feel free to comment if you liked this first chapter. But even if you don't, another is on its way. Definitely eventually (and probably even soon)!
