Talent Land - My Experience, Feedback, and Numbers [ENG- ESP]

It's time to share my experience at Talent Land 2025. The truth is, it was a great event that we had been preparing for several months. I started my involvement at the end of February, and throughout March, I was working almost every day on something related to the event. You can see a bit more about that process in this post and in this one. It was a lot of work and stress. Still, without a doubt, it was worth it.

Es hora de compartir mi experiencia sobre Talent Land 2025. La verdad es que fue un gran evento, el cual estuvimos preparando desde hace varios meses. Yo comencé mi participación a finales de febrero, y durante marzo estuve casi todos los días trabajando en algo relacionado con el evento. Pueden ver un poco más sobre ese proceso en este post y en este otro. Fue mucho trabajo y estrés, pero sin duda, valió la pena.
I arrived in Guadalajara on Friday, April 18th; I was the first one to get there. I traveled by bus from my city. For me, since I tend to get anxious, traveling this way was less stressful than flying. It was also more affordable, so the trip didn’t end up being too expensive. I arrived early because I had to receive part of the merchandise we had ordered, including the t-shirts and hoodies.

I also chose to arrive that day so I could welcome @manuphotos, who was arriving late at night. Even though Airbnb had self-check-in, it was better for someone to already be there to receive him, and that’s exactly what happened. We stayed in an apartment just a few steps away from the event venue.
Llegué a Guadalajara el viernes 18 de abril; fui el primero en llegar. Viajé en autobús desde mi ciudad. Para mí, que soy bastante ansioso, fue menos estresante viajar así que en avión. Además, resultó más económico y mi viaje no salía tan caro. Fui el primero en llegar porque tenía que recibir parte de la mercancía que mandamos a hacer, entre ellas las playeras y los hoodies/sudaderas.
También decidí llegar ese día para poder recibir a @manuphotos, quien llegaba tarde en la noche. Aunque el Airbnb tenía entrada autónoma, era mejor que ya hubiera alguien ahí para recibirlo, y así fue. Nos hospedamos en unos departamentos que estaban a solo unos pasos del lugar del evento.
The event took place at Expo Guadalajara, one of the largest event venues in Mexico—if not the largest. It's an impressive place that hosts numerous international-scale events. It was my first time visiting, and I was truly amazed by both the scale of the event and the excellent organization.
El evento se llevó a cabo en Expo Guadalajara, uno de los recintos más grandes de México, si no es que el más grande, para la realización de eventos. Es un lugar impresionante donde se llevan a cabo numerosos eventos de talla internacional. Para mí fue la primera vez que lo visité, y quedé sorprendido tanto por la magnitud del evento como por la excelente organización.
Saturday was one of the most stressful days, as that was the day we had to set up the stand or booth. It was stressful because it was my first time participating in something like this. We hired a company to help with the setup and, as you can see in this post and in the photos, we managed to have a pretty decent stand considering the budget we were working with. I was really happy with the result.
Between Saturday and Sunday, the rest of the event participants arrived, and we had a meeting to make sure we were all on the same page regarding the onboarding process—how we would talk about Hive, how we would invite businesses, and how we would achieve the goals we had set. We met in one of the apartments, where we tested the Selfie App and also went through the account creation process using HolaHive.com.
El sábado fue uno de los días más estresantes, ya que ese día se tenía que montar el stand o booth. Fue estresante porque era la primera vez que participaba en algo así. Contratamos a una empresa para que ayudara con la instalación y, como pudieron ver en este post y en las fotos, logramos tener un stand bastante decente para el presupuesto que manejamos. Me sentí muy feliz con el resultado.
Entre el sábado y el domingo llegaron los demás participantes del evento, y tuvimos una reunión para asegurarnos de que todos estuviéramos en la misma sintonía respecto al proceso de onboarding: cómo íbamos a hablar sobre Hive, cómo invitaríamos a los negocios y cómo cumpliríamos las metas que nos propusimos. Nos reunimos en uno de los departamentos, donde probamos la Selfie App y también el proceso de creación de cuentas a través de HolaHive.com.
Constructive Feedback
Like many others, I have some constructive feedback—mostly for @Keychain, which was the main app we used, and also for HolaHive.com. However, I think I’ll share my ideas about HolaHive in more detail in a separate post.
The first thing I want to mention about Keychain is that on many devices, the buttons are quite small and hard to see. Additionally, they often need to be pressed multiple times to respond. Manu and I also created accounts directly through Keychain using the “create account for a friend” option. It works really well overall, but there’s one small issue: when entering the username, it must be typed entirely in lowercase. This can slow things down because most phones automatically capitalize the first letter. It would be great if the app could automatically convert everything to lowercase.
Regarding HolaHive.com, some improvements have already been made and there’s a new version of the account creation page. We didn’t test it directly at the event because we were concerned it might stop working during the onboarding process, but I really appreciate @enrique89 for implementing the updates. We’ll be sharing a post soon about what we have in mind.
Another piece of constructive feedback is about the Selfie App. We thought it would be nice if the selfie taken by the user became their profile picture on Hive. This would make the process more dynamic. It would also be helpful to have a way to complete the user profile more thoroughly within the app. But overall, given the short development time, the app turned out great. Huge thanks and congratulations to @sagarkothari88 and @brianoflondon for pulling it off in record time.
Como muchos otros, tengo un feedback constructivo, principalmente para @Keychain, que fue la app principal que utilizamos, y también para HolaHive.com. Aunque sobre esta última creo que compartiré mis ideas en otra publicación más detallada.
Lo primero que quiero mencionar sobre Keychain es que, en muchos dispositivos, los botones son algo pequeños y difíciles de ver. Además, en varias ocasiones es necesario presionarlos varias veces para que respondan. Manu y yo también estuvimos creando cuentas directamente desde Keychain, utilizando la opción de "crear cuenta para un amigo". En general funciona muy bien, pero hay un detalle: al momento de escribir el nombre de usuario, este debe ir forzosamente en minúsculas. Esto puede ralentizar el proceso, ya que en muchos teléfonos la primera letra se escribe automáticamente en mayúscula. Sería ideal que la aplicación convirtiera el texto a minúsculas de forma automática.
Sobre HolaHive.com, ya hay algunas mejoras y una nueva versión de la página de creación de cuentas. No pudimos probarla directamente durante el evento, por temor a que dejara de funcionar justo en medio del proceso de onboarding de algún usuario, pero agradezco mucho a @enrique89 por implementar las nuevas actualizaciones. Pronto haremos una publicación detallada sobre lo que tenemos en mente.
Otro punto de feedback constructivo es sobre la Selfie App. Estuvimos pensando que sería una buena idea que la selfie que se toma el usuario se convirtiera en su foto o imagen de perfil en Hive. Esto haría el proceso más dinámico. También sería útil incluir una forma de completar el perfil más a fondo dentro de la misma aplicación. Pero en general, para el poco tiempo que hubo para desarrollar la app, estuvo genial. Muchas felicidades y gracias a @sagarkothari88 y a @brianoflondon por haber logrado esto en tiempo récord.
Positive Feedback
When it comes to positive feedback, there’s a lot to highlight. First of all, I want to thank @josepimpo for the opportunity and for connecting us with the Talent Land team. I also want to thank @shadowmyst, who introduced me to José Pimpo over five years ago, back when Hive was just getting started.
A special shoutout and congratulations to @starkerz for the excellent organization during the event and for always keeping us informed about what needed to be done. Without him, this event wouldn't have been possible—or at least not in the way it turned out. His speech about Hive attracted many more people to our stand and helped us build a lot of valuable connections.
The Talent Land team was incredibly supportive and attentive, offering us helpful feedback and ideas. They treated us exceptionally well and made the entire process much smoother. It was a real pleasure to work with them.
Of course, there are always things to improve, but I believe we did an amazing job, especially considering this was Hive’s first time participating in an event of this scale in Mexico. Thank you to the entire team for your effort, support, and time. It was a great collective achievement!
En cuanto al feedback positivo, hay muchas cosas que destacar. Primero que nada, quiero agradecer a @josepimpo por la oportunidad y por habernos conectado con el equipo de Talent Land. También agradezco a @shadowmyst, quien me presentó a José Pimpo hace ya más de cinco años, cuando apenas iniciaba Hive.
Un reconocimiento y una felicitación especial para @starkerz, por lograr una excelente organización durante el evento y por mantenernos siempre informados sobre nuestras tareas. Sin él, este evento no hubiera sido posible, o al menos no de la manera en que se desarrolló. Su discurso sobre Hive atrajo a muchas más personas a nuestro stand y nos ayudó a generar numerosos contactos valiosos.
El equipo de Talent Land estuvo siempre muy atento con nosotros, brindándonos apoyo, retroalimentación e ideas. Nos trataron de maravilla y facilitaron mucho todo el proceso. Fue un verdadero placer trabajar con ellos.
Hay muchas cosas por mejorar, por supuesto, pero creo que hicimos un gran trabajo considerando que es la primera vez que Hive participa en un evento de esta magnitud en México. Gracias a todo el equipo por su esfuerzo, apoyo y tiempo. ¡Fue un gran logro conjunto!
Numbers!
To wrap up this post, I’d like to share some of the numbers and connections we made during the event. We’re still following up with many of the people we met, and we’ve already had virtual meetings with some of them.
For example, last Tuesday, @gr33nm4ster and I had a meeting with @mcbro, who works at a video game development school. There’s great potential to onboard many of their students and staff into Hive, allowing them to create content and also develop and share their games.
I also helped @enfaldado create his Hive account, and in the coming days, we’ll meet again to guide him through making his first posts and teach him the whole process. You can find him on Instagram as @enfaldado. He had already met @ManuPhotos, @starkerz, and @Gr33nM4aster last year at Talent Land, so much of the credit goes to them.
I personally guided 58 new users through the Hive onboarding process. This included using the Selfie App and, in most cases, a demonstration of Distriator. Most received at least 2 HBD, which they used to buy a T-shirt, while others received up to 8 HBD, allowing them to shop at the stores we successfully onboarded to Hive. Manu and Gr33n were the true pros at convincing businesses.
Another accomplishment was securing the stand at a very affordable price. Our initial budget was 2,000 HBD, but we managed to get it for just 750 HBD. We also secured a lot of the merchandise at a lower cost than originally planned. More on this will be shared in the final report.

Para finalizar esta publicación, quiero compartir algunos de los números que tuvimos y los contactos que logramos durante este evento. Aún estamos dando seguimiento a muchas de las personas que conocimos, y ya hemos tenido reuniones virtuales con algunas de ellas.
Por ejemplo, el martes pasado, @gr33nm4ster y yo tuvimos una reunión con @mcbro, quien trabaja en una escuela de desarrollo de videojuegos. Existe un gran potencial para integrar a muchos de sus alumnos y al staff dentro de Hive, tanto para crear contenido como para desarrollar y compartir sus propios videojuegos.
También ayudé a @enfaldado a crear su cuenta en Hive, y en los próximos días nos reuniremos para apoyarlo en la creación de sus primeras publicaciones y enseñarle todo el proceso. Lo pueden encontrar en Instagram como @enfaldado. Él ya había conocido a @ManuPhotos, @starkerz y @Gr33nM4aster el año pasado en Talent Land, así que gran parte del crédito es de ellos.
Durante el evento logré guiar a 58 nuevos usuarios en Hive para que completaran todo el proceso. Esto incluyó el uso de la Selfie App y, en la mayoría de los casos, una demostración de Distriator. La mayoría recibió al menos 2 HBD, que pudieron usar para comprar una playera. En otros casos, recibieron hasta 8 HBD, con los que pudieron comprar en las tiendas que convencimos de unirse a Hive. En esto, los verdaderos maestros fueron Manu y Gr33n.
Otro logro fue conseguir el stand a un precio muy accesible. Nuestro presupuesto inicial era de 2,000 HBD, pero logramos conseguirlo por solo 750 HBD. También pudimos adquirir mucha de la mercancía a un precio menor del previsto. Más detalles estarán en el reporte final.
Conclusión y agradecimientos finales
Before wrapping up, I think it’s important to mention and thank the @hivecreators team, who supported us with all the graphic design for the event—from the booth design to the T-shirts, hoodies, and more. A special thanks to @enrique89, @samgiset, and @desic for all their help during the event.
