New coffee gadgets Aeropress unboxing

The one luxury I always take in holidays is a coffee press and a pack of decent coffee. There is nothing nicer than waking up with a good cup of coffee even if you have to make it yourself.
Normally I take a French Press but there is always a risk that the thin glass will break in transit,

which has happened a few times on diving trips to the Red Sea.

Recently while trawling the internet I discovered ”AeroPress” so it not just porn and cats, who knew? My go to coffee site is James Hoffman on YouTube, He’s been going a while and his videos are slick well presented and very informative. He really is a total coffee obsessive and has a number of vids on how to get the best from your AeroPress.

So what is Aeropress? It’s sort of a cross between a filter coffee and a french press but made of a robust plastic so much less likely to break and nice a light for travelling.

There is a lot in the box like cleaning brushes, paddles to mix things up and a funnel so that the coffee doesn’t go everywhere.

But if your travelling you only really need the AeroPress and a few filter papers

It’s very simple to use and an easy way to make a great cup of coffee on holiday.
All you do is put a filter paper in the carrier.

Add a couple of scoops of ground coffee, it will take a really fine grind so no issues with coffee grounds in the bottom of the cup.

Pour in the hot water, fit the plunger and let it sit for a couple of minutes.

Give the AeroPress a swirl to sink the grounds and gently push the plunger down for great cup. There was more but I was desperate and drank it on the way to sit down and write the post.

So Hivers there you have it a simple coffee maker for simple folk. The latest version of AeroPress is clear plastic and about £50 on Amazon but they sill have some of the old smoked plastic original type for around £35 so grab yourself a quick bargain before they are all gone.
